Really bad all the way around. What the hell was Soto trying at the very end of the song?! Ouch.

Yah..that was very bad. I simply will never understand JSS and his marketing decisions. It's like he simply does not want to be a headline act. And why the hell is "he" doing Separate Ways? He has 100% nothing to do with the original. JSS has such an incredible talent base, but his constant public performances of other groups's material makes him come off as nothing more than an "ok" cover band lead singer. I would simply say no to these kind of gigs and stick to shows which highlight his own music which he sounds kick ass on. (I'm even starting to like 21st Century now..) :)

I agree texafana, Jeff should not take these gigs. He has a new cd out he should be touring warming up before Firefest. Live performance of new material before his good paying TSO gigs. Then worldwide tour .

Really? :? He's not going to be touring until spring/summer behind his CD........until after TSO. And he loves to work, so why wouldn't he do it? It was a fun gig with friends/peers. Looked like they were having as much of a blast up there as the fans were. :) Thought it was cute watching EM taking pictures (from backstage) during JSS set just like the rest of us.

Perry doesn't work enough, Soto works too much......sh*t these guys just can't win. Oh well, can't please everybody.

Deb if he loves to work then perform his own material. Get the band and himself ready for Firefest. Nothing wrong with having fun but he a new material out ,promote it. Give me a break on pleasing everyone Deb. Who cares about Perry he is enjoying retirement. Soto should be promoting new cd. .

I have no problem with Soto doing these shows and neither should anyone else. The stick to his own music thing is pointless. He doesn't muster the numbers to do so. That said, like the rest of us, I'm sure the man has bills to pay. That's what he's doing. He's talented enough to do covers of some pretty tough material and he does. If Scrap Metal is ok with it, everyone else should be as well.

What I do question is him saying that he'd "rather sing his own material to small crowds than someone else's to large crowds" a while back in an interview. I think this was just frustration over the decision Journey made that he wasn't right for the job. At any rate, he seems to be doing just the opposite. Every set list I see of his is always all covers. And still to small crowds.

Good post SJ, Yes he does need paying gigs but also he has career to promote. Even with the Journey exposure he still is a no name in the rock world of entertainment.

Please do not tell to watch my mouth. How will that get me booted, I said nothing wrong. People do not know who Jeff is that's why he needs to promote his career. Yes he is singing with the TSO a great paying gig.

His solo shows this past summer only had 2 covers I believe. Crazy and Running with the Devil(at one of them). Most of the 2 hour show was his material from Solo/Talisman/Yngwie/SS/Rockstar, besides the fan fave "medley". Scrap Metal is different, it is a fun show of 80s hits.....more like an all-star jam.

Calm down, I was joking. And if you don't know how you'd get booted, you should probably do some more research.

Correct me if I'm mistaken but aren't you referring to two shows? Hardly enough to tour behind...which is what I was referring to. Sorry if there was confusion.

No prob. That's true. What I was referring to is.........his shows this past summer only had a couple, compared to past shows. So I believe, he also takes in what the fans on the board are saying. Or at least I noticed a difference. And as long as he doesn't drop CRAZY, all's good. :D
