He looked exhausted. 20+ hours of traveling has to suck. But I'm sure he'll sleep quite well tonight. I'm glad he 's home. He deserves some rest and relaxation. He's earned it.Rick wrote:I bet he's glad to be home, finally.

Poor guy has to go home and start singing as soon as he lands.

Thank you. And I know all about wanting to kiss the ground after being out of the country and away from home for an extended period of time. He'll be a megastar there by next summer. The small tour of the Pacific Rim will be all the exposure he needs.pineda1 wrote:Saint John wrote:Very cool. How about a translation of the first part?
The reporter said that Arnel was received warmly by local fans and the media, and that he is so happy to be back home that he wanted to kiss the ground as soon as the plane landed. The rest were excerpts of how he was discovered in YT by Journey.

Now he sings TDTWT live.

I bet that footage doesn't tell the whole story though. I'd be willing to bet the crowd was deafening when he walked out of customs.

I have to go with PowerChords here. If there had been a large crowd, The media would have played it up just like they do when Pacman goes home. They love to promote homegrown Stars. Rock music is just not a big thing over there.

That's sheer insanity.

If they tried to get past that, they could get arrested. That's how strict security is at the Nonoy Aquino International Aiport (NAIA) in Manila is. Once outside the barricades, he would have been mobbed if he were not protected by bodyguards and former bandmates. I'm sure his arrival was unannounced. If it were, there would have been thousands at the airport. Filipino fans can be shy and at other times respectful of their idols. You can not measure how much Filipinos love rock and Arnel from this scenario at the airport.

I've flown in there a ton of times with Filipino Idols so I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about. If there were large groups waiting outside, the cameras would have been there. Even us Gringo's knew when he was going to arrive, no big secret there. I'm not slighting Arnel in the least. I'm saying he is better known and appreciated here than there because of Journey and it's fan base, not the short term fan base that just arrived with Arnel and couldn't name five songs from any album before Arnel joined the group. We see Arnel as a part of Journey, not a hero or superstar but part of a great group that cemented it's legacy between the years of 1981 and 1983 and have been paying tribute to that era for the last 25 years.

But if Arnel came in with Ross, Neal, Jon and Deen, it's guaranteed pandemonium at the airport!

People were yelling "Seperate Lives!, Seperate Lives!" in the hopes of him playing that huge hit he wrote for Phil Collins.
