That's how I got into Journey .... and I'm an oldie !
Listening to that "voice" and watching him on the GH dvd ..... just a few years ago.
Can anyone say with a straight face that DSB .... and Faithfully .... would resonant so among the masses if someone else had sung those songs? There are many good singers, but it was SP who put his stamp (inflections) on these 2 timeless songs .... plus so many more.

Very true. You can have the best song in the world, but if it's a crappy singer singing it......I'm not listening. Where as even if it's a crappy song, but GREAT vocals, I'm listening.

OA is as cheesy a song as they come, but SP made it mesmerizing. Many have come after showing they can sing this song, too, plus all the other hits. But it is SP's inflections they all copied (when singing these hits).
