In the spirit of this thread -
Arnel Pineda does not imitate an Escape era Perry by chance.
In an effort to stop tapegate happening Perry went back in time Superman style to steal his own vocal ability from his younger self. The plan was he would split the vocal ability with his past self in an effort to sustain his singing career with the J-boys.
Perfect as he is, Perry mistimed his world spinning, time traveling adventure slightly and ended up at the recording of Frontiers and not Escape. After fighting himself to a standstill (again Superman stylee but more camp) the future Perry made off with about 60% of young Perry's vocal range but not before advising his less savvy past self that he could get paid as a band member whilst not actually being in the band. He also told that f@cker to get rid of the moustache!
Mistiming his flight back Perry was horrified to find out that he had not only completely missed tapegate but that the band had since hired not one but two new singers! Realising he had jumped the shark and angered by Schon's insulting magazine interview Perry decided to keep raking in the Journey cash without actually performing with them again but not before one more trip back in time!
This time Perry ended up in the Philippines a couple of years earlier where he intended to open a can of whoopass on Arnel Pineda's jaw thus ending his singing aspirations and leaving Schon's future YouTube search fruitless. Unfortunately in his anger Perry forget he was still holding the vocal ability he stole from his earlier self and literally forced his own beautiful voice down Pineda's throat!
And so it was that a vocal-less Perry went home to play with his cats inadvertently leaving Journey a singer with his voice and royally f@cking himself over in the past!
Think about it -
Perry's sudden vocal change between albums and eventual vocal decline as his diminished pipes ended up doing double duty trying to keep up.
The shaving of the moustache captured on video as evidence for his future self!
Young Perry suddenly becoming savvy enough to take years off on a whim whilst still raking in the company dollar!
Perry's live vocal performance of don't stop believin' after the baseball game - it wasn't the screaming that caused the tension in his throat, dude had just got back from punching Pineda (makes a change from kittens) and was absolutely worn out!
In addition an overly fatigued, confused and emotional Perry still thinks he dropped his young vocal ability at said game and can still be seen regularly at the stadium searching for the mystical item.
The sudden influx of YouTube videos featuring a vocally reinvigorated Pineda: the dude had lost his voice not long prior and was warned off singing by his doctor and all of a sudden here he is singing like a young Perry!
Truly believing he will once again find his voice old man Perry can often be heard talking about studios, demos and new material.
Thus was born the legend of Nostrildamas!
