I'm still speculating on a big-time real co-headling tour. We'll just have to wait and see.

I just don't know who would tour with Journey on an actual co-headlining tour. Not "co-headlining" where Journey plays first every night on a dinky-ass stage with Microsoft Windows screensavers playing on the video board ala the Def Leppard tour of 2006.

There are clearly different stages of touring acts. The A-list acts, who sell out stadiums and arenas by themselves and wouldn't tour with Journey period (Led Zeppelin, the Eagles, Bon Jovi, AC/DC etc.)

B-list would be Journey and bands of the like, who could make an attractive co-headlining package (Def Leppard, Foreigner, Boston, etc.)

And C-list would be bands who at this point in their careers would not be co-headliners, but rather opening acts (Styx, REO, Survivor, Cheap Trick, etc.)

I think you're most likely to see Journey open for two C-list bands again. Proved to work well this summer.

I'd love to be proven wrong, though.

Include Daughtry as bands that sell-out on their own.

I'm stilll thinking about the Queen + Paul Rodgers as an option

I think they're serious.

FYI When Pat was touring in 80 she was not well know yet and playing college crowds. I saw her at the University of Delaware show. Then MTV happened and she blew up overnight

Interesting choices there......especially opening acts. :)

And sorry, just can't do INXS without MH. :(

Grace Slick is done. She's been out of the business for 20 years and I don't think that she will be trying to get back in when she's turning 70 next year. That said, I would love to see Slick and Thomas together on a stage but it's just not going to happen.

Sammy Hagar wouldn't open for Journey and Triumph would be headlining any kind of a reunion tour if it ends up happening.

Loverboy or Foreigner would be great openers and Boston would be a good co-headliner.

Arch Allies was just a Styx and REO thing. This would be "Classic Rock's Main Event: Revisited."

And although it might work six years after the first one, I'd rather see them explore other options.

Now, we all know things are tough out there for a lot of folks (I thought what Journey did this year with selling higher priced seats but discounting the lawn was definately the right move). It's probably going to worse next summer.

Who do you think Journey should realistically hook up with for 2009?

Strange, I would post a Journey topic.

They should hook up with anyone they want to. To me it's still too early to be concern about touring in 2009.

Sorry RobbieG, but I think tours need to be put together now if you want the dates and the venues.

MT - I love Sammy and it would definately work, but would it get the casuals to a concert in these tough times?

Yep...scale down the tix a notch too.

I heard that in Obama's spread the wealth initiative he will make sure everyone can get a ticket to the 2009 Journey Tour...free. He knows the economy sucks for everyone so he'll make sure taxes are raised enough on the rich to allow the government to pay for it. Going to a Journey concert should be the next entitlement...shouldn't it?

At the least, the government should regulate how much these rich artists can charge for tickets. Look how prices have gotten so out of hand without such regulation. It has become rediculous.

That'd be kinda cool, although I think it'd be cool to still have the high-energy show though, especially with their new-found success.

As far as having an opening act or double-bill scenario, I'd say Foreigner would be great (for two reasons: 1) longer sets from both bands and 2) Kelly Hansen has established himself with the band...although they need to do more beyond releasing a new single).

If it's the triple bill again, I would have to say Boston - Foreigner - Journey.

I saw Journey and Foreigner do a show together in 81. They along with George Thorogood opened for the Stones. Hey that's an idea, Journey, Foreigner and Thorogood. Sounds like a winner to me.

Hmmm...

How about an all-day melodicrockalooza, with...

The Outfield
Loverboy
Night Ranger
Boston
Def Leppard

and closing the show with Journey?
But around town, it was well known...when they got home at night
Their fat and psychopathic wives
Would thrash them within inches of their lives!

WOW - whoever suggested those has lost it!

Multiple people. And they are serious. Drinking too much of the Kool-Aid.

I think one suggested bill involved Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, the Eagles and Journey closing. Honestly...anybody can go through their iTunes and pick a group of 12 bands and two American Idol-rejects and say OMGZZZ...THEY SHOULD ALL TOTALLY OPEN FOR THE JOURNEYZZZ.

at journey's recent success would they still considering opening for some of the bigger acts or they will stick with top billing their own? what does journey fans think about this?

The concert business is and will be fine. I know the negative headlines start to get to us, but just go do and enjoy what you wanna do...

Journey cannot open, so pick someone you will. I hated seeing them start before the Leps.

That would be a fantastic triple bill. They could make that a 5 hour show. I'd definitely go to that one.

You know, is it too much to wish that the band take a fucking break???...maybe get back into the studio and try to shed any notion that this is a fucking nostalgia act...by coming out with some new music...not 2-3 new songs mixed in with some generations redos and augeri-era throwaways.

A successful tour is usually bookended by a good album release....the upper threshold for these nostalgia tours when a band doesn't record successful *new* efforts in the studio is not that high. They did something that *no* one would have predicted with a third replacement singer....which is to actually chart an album...and get certification.

That kind of success needs to be built on with another release....over the next year or two.

if they just give up on what they've built towards...and start pissing it away with more nostalgia touring.....they will lose whatever market position they may have had with revelation.

Yes they need to take a break and go back into the studio and record some new material. I believe that's what Schon said. Why worry who they are touring with or if they are going to tour next year?
