What are you smoking????
No! i'm not smoking. You got something against black artists and black fans? :P

As long as they're black ROCK artists and fans, Nope. Chocolate into peanut butter is good for oneoff concerts like unicef or the lady Di tribute , even the Chile show. But for a tour I don't think so. Better go back to your K-TEL collection if you like to listen to that mix.

My dream concert right now would be a Journey/Rush co-headliner.

I love Rush but I'd rather have them continue to tour on their own and play 3 hour shows.

Obviously, people know that this was done before, but it was nearly 10 years ago and both bands have new singers and new fans.

It was a Peter Green song. No one from that era of the band is there only McVie and Fleetwood.

Zeppelin...would never happen. But I would like to see that if Journey committed to only playing Rockers.
The Eagles....would insist on being the headliners on the whole tour, therefore Journey shouldn't do it.
GNR....that's insane.
Bon Jovi....that wouldn't be too bad, but I'd want Journey headlining the whole tour, and Bon Jovi wouldn't agree to that.
Sabath....that's as insane as the GNR thing would be.
Aerosmith...I wouldn't care for that very much, and Aerosmith would insist on being the headliner, so no thanks.
Van Halen....that would be a great tour, but Eddie would never agree to it because he knows damn well that Neal would kick his ass on guitar every night.

How about Led Zeppelin (w/ Myles Kennedy on lead vocals, not Robert Plant) with Journey? It's billed as a "co-headlining" tour, but Journey opens every show (exactly similar to the Journey/Def Leppard tour). Both Journey and Led Zeppelin each release a couple new, unrecorded songs for free onto youtube and their respective websites, etc., before the tour begins as a value-added benefit for fans and for promotional purposes (and because each band is not supporting a full album release for the tour). Journey performs more rockers on this tour and gains some new fans. Journey is happy to "open" on such a tour because of the publicity and because it's not releasing an album this year.

Led Zeppelin w/ Robert Plant is an AAA-list band and could sell out stadiums. Led Zeppelin w/ a replacement singer is not -- it's perhaps A-, on the scale that you've suggested). But putting both bands together might allow to sell out big venues and make it an extremely profitable (and popular) tour. The price-point for tickets could be higher than it would be otherwise.

All this being said, I think if Journey does tour in 2009, it'd be with Foreigner.

Journey doesn't need to headline, just tour with a decent group. Doesn't Yes have plans to tour with a replacement singer? Play second fiddle on a real limited tour, rake in some cash, then get back in the studio.
