it's a bit more like you pick a design offered by the builder and change it a bit S-Dip - we made quite a few changes to ours, especially our ensuite, which we made twice as big, increased the size of the shower and made the vanity with two basins. We also changed the kitchen slightly, and added eaves to two sides of the house, where there weren't any.

We also had a plumber modify the schematic for the plumbing too so that we can add a 3000 - 4000 litre water tank later for drinking, flushing 2 toilets and filling the washing machine.

It's all fun!! The cost of land (about 25 mins from the city by car or train) would freak you out though - I'll PM you with it if you're interested!

Actually in the process of doing the same thing.

We put a deposit on some land in Feb this year (had to go into a ballot - 1500 entries and only 156 blocks so we were lucky) The land isn't actually available to build upon until Oct 08-Jan09 (probably Jan 09 knowing the Land Development Agency here in Canberra).
I actually have to go and sign a form today and give the designer/builder company $1500 to secure the price of the quote they gave of the house we want before they put the price up $30k

Land is bullshit in price here in canberra...looking at $200,000 for a 450 square metre block.

Not that you can tell much from the link but this is what we are getting (although we have made a few changes.

Plan looks nice mate - double story!! Fuck that album must have sold well! The living area is about the same as ours though...

This was our base plan - we lost the WIR in Bed 2 and extended the ensuite out, and the toilet is now on the same wall as the vanity, and walled off! we also lost the computer recess and extended that wall out....it's actually a lot different now, I hadn't realised just how many changes we had made until I looked back at this!

You keep on surprising me! It's all wonderful though, and your house looks lovely, with lots of space -both your houses actually! You probably can't wait until it's all finished and you can move in!

Tali, your upstairs looks practically the same as my parents' upstairs. Bed 2 was my bedroom...

Never expected the land to be so expensive; that's a lot of money without even having the house on it!

This is actually a later adaption of the plan which shows the modified ensuite - we were at that time going to turn the computer recess into an extra linen cupboard, but decided against it - we also widened the master bed by 2 bricks as well, I think it's 460 mm, in case we wanna ever get a King size bed and just for a bit of extra room.

This plan is how it will be too, as he right side of the plan faces North, so the main living areas will get more sun! All fun!

'Em??? The surprises continue! Not a fan of changing the diapers I gather?

That living area is huge! And I love how you have extra rooms for home theatre and laundry... and all that storage space...

It's really nice to have sunshine into your main living area, makes the room instantly look larger and more cheerful. That's one thing I don't want to compromise on when we buy a house!

Well ya gotta have a boy and a girl!! Besides, I dreamed of the little girl that is to be, her name and everything. Although I can't remember exactly what she looked like, I do remember her name, and it is going to be her name when she is born!

Yeah, the walk in robe behind the bed is going to allow lots of storage space....what worries me is that someone might need to go shopping to fill the wardrobe properly!

That's essentially what I'm hoping mate....though I'm hoping the missus will help. Obviously the less I have to do the better..... :P

If its a boy you just have to teach it to kick a footy and some basic car maintenance....if its a girl you just have to be there on her 18th birthday to hand her the key to her chastity belt.

Jake (my seed) had his 9th birthday party over the weekend....6 kids sleeping over. NEVER AGAIN!

My two best friends will be fathers at the beginning of next year. They have different philsophies regarding their expectings: One is taking advantage of his freedom before it's all taken away by the responsibilities of parenting. The other is getting a head-start by working every hour every day.

I don't have much experience with kids myself. I was the youngest and neither of my bros started families yet.

...I couldn't possibly curse a significant other with another one of me. :P I'd much rather adopt one when they're past the potty-training stage.

Wow... very nice that double storey family room, and the kitchen is gorgeous!

I suppose with this house you can have way more than six kids sleeping over :P

Have the cats popped out a little more by now? Choco is such a sweet dog, and maybe they've discovered now he's a very nice and warm place to sleep. ;)

You really, really, really like him, don't you! ;)

We went to a music quiz in a bar yesterday, together with a friend. Loads of sound fragments, printed lyric fragments, and an album covers round. Fun to do, even though we didn't know much about pop music from the nineties and after! There was still some stuff we did know and we did reasonably well on the album covers and lyrics.
Oh, we -and just about everybody else there- mistook a Sepultura guitar solo for Slayer... always thought Kerry King's solos were one of a kind!

Hello??

Postby MitchPixx » Thu Nov 20, 2008 10:36 am

<Door creaks open and Mitch pokes her head in>

Hello? Anyone in? Anyone remember me?

I was chatting to a mate a couple of days ago, and he started to tell me about this amazing website that had features on about all our favourite bands. "Not Melodic Rock" says me, "oh, you know it then" says him. It got me thinking, wonder if any of the old crowd are still frequenting my favourite watering hole? So I thought I'd pop in and see and would you believe it... you're all still here!!!

I had a check and the last time I came in was 2005!!! Its been far to long and I have missed you all. Daft init!!!

Anyways, thought I'd just pop in and see if anyone remembers this mad englishwoman? Quite understand if I have been blotted out.

Cheers!! 8)
