Best Intros

Some intros lead into good riffs or otherwise good songs. Others rock from the start.

"Animal" by DL has imo the best intro of any song I can think of. It's rockin from the first notes. Journey's To Be Alive Again has a pretty good opener.

I apologize - I always come tearing in here with the same answer to the song questions.
But intros that rock from the start...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z_pZFciPrI8

You hear that guitar and you're paying attention right away.
(Is it just me? Is that actually a poor intro and I just don't know it?  LOL!))

Off hand, the others that came to mind were:
Led Zeppelin - Royal Orleans and Misty Mountain Hop
Queen - Body Language (it doesn't so much "rock" but OMG, GREAT intro)
GnR - "Sweet Child O' Mine"

I might be going out on a limb with this last one but I can't help it... seriously great intro...

Alice COoper has several wall to wall rockers - especially on the Trash and Hey Stoopid Albums.

I draw your attention to one of the Coops new offerings from his Along Came A Spider Album

Vengeance is Mine -

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=YsvA1LY7bak

Slash team up on the guitar with Cooper, and it is a compelling , hit you in the kisser, raise your fist and Rock type of song right from the start.

For a non-rocker that's an especially good intro. A song within itself.

Neal Peart - you can't go wrong with anything he does. Should also be on the "driving tunes" thread. I could never let up on the gas with that track playing. :)

Which reminds me of another of Rush's best intros. I hit replay 00:45 just to hear it again.

Rush - Spirit of Radio

BJG, you're not funny. Well you are but .... a RickRoll? :)

I'd like to see Rhi's choice for great intro song. And it better not be an Asstley. :)

I always love the beginning of this song, as soon as you hear the drums pounding it gets you amped.

Yes, that was a cold shot. I was seriously lookin' forward to your second choice.

Something like this maybe. Back in the day I thought it was pretty decent, I must say.

Coops is underrated these days though he's been around forever. His antics and make-up seemed to overshadow some cool tracks.

Survivor has lots of good ones with that driving groove... I can sit here and list tons of songs that just rock me from the start, I'll try and keep it to like 10 or 15. Leaving metal out because that for the most part goes with the territory, rockin from the first note...

Survivor - Feels Like Love
Asia - Never Again
Kiss - Two Sides of the Coin
Billy Joel - I Go To Extremes
Boston - Don't Look Back
Damn Yankees - Coming of Age
Doobie Bros - China Grove
Genesis - Land of Confusion
The Guess Who - Musicione
John Mellencamp - I Need a Lover
Night Ranger - You Can Still Rock In America
REO - Roll With The Changes
Styx - Miss America
Tesla - Modern Day Cowboy
VH - Dreams

Here's Arnel's version, so it can sort of be on topic....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DESc3fiEdMI

still can't touch this version......

Great tune, has that Rainbow, Tony Carey vibe. Definitely an 80's vid. :)

Check this out. Same song but a video tribute to Steve Perry.

Damnit, I think that '70's REO is my favorite band. They were my favorite growing up, still love Gary's guitar sound. :D

Soul Revival - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RAoKKgZfA0o

I don't think this is what you're talking about, but the moment I hear the chords of the intro to this song, I just whip around to listen - instantly pulls me in! Bittersweet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kk3_FsqH3w

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXZXJ46xdfg This one, however, also from the Gurus, is a little more like it, I suspect - Axegrinders

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP390yQ36wY 'Australia' by the Manic Street Preachers - great intro, great song!
