Hey, its anti-appreciation thread day so what the hell.

Anyone got that clip of JSS doing "Only The Young" where he does some kind of squeal? I remember Deano said Ross must've goosed him.

He raped "Stone In Love" pretty good when I saw them in Indy.

I know that when Jeff first joined Journey, someone posted a performance of him singing "Separate Ways" on here as proof he was the man. It was not a good performance, at all, and I said so at the time here, not endearing myself to Soto fans. When he went to hit the high notes, they simply weren't there. That said, he was brand new to Journey then, and he did get better. His absolute best song was always "I'll Be Alright Without You". He nailed that song EVERY time!

Only Arnel on the re-record did it justice. I really liked the newer guitar parts.

Timing being what it was. I truly believe Schon & co. saw Tragchick's first Arnel thread here and set about the ouster of JSS.

Jeff was being let go before the Youtube samples were posted. That's actually why they were being posted on here.

For his first live performance with the band, I'd say that was pretty damn good. But I judge people differently than most others do. If they can do it better than I can, then I'm impressed. I'm a horrible singer.

We'll agree to disagree. It was a horrendous peformance, in my opinion. You have to understand that I believe Arnel is a very talented singer, so I expect FAR more out of him, than I ever did out of Augeri. Because of that, I don't think it was a good performance. I'm not a good singer, either, but that really isn't the point. I'm not the dude up there trying to sing Journey's catalog. Arnel has obviously gotten better, but he was ALL over the place (vocally) on that performance!

I liked JSS doing Only the Young. I thought it suited his voice more than some of the other Journey songs.

Not sure if I've heard that one. But I do get a chuckle out of Ross' bigass smile on this clip around the 1:15 mark or so.......likes watching our boy too. :P

IMO, JSS is the only one to nail the sexy soulful bluesy swagger that song calls for vocally......since Perry.

I think Trag's AP thread was April of 07 and Jeff was still there until after he Virginia show in May. I'll see if I can find the AP thread.
