Without a doubt. If we're going to compare someone to Journey, let's at least choose an A artist instead of a B or C artist. There are only a handful of singers who could compare to Steve Perry, and The Boss is not one of them. Try polling Perry against another good vocalist such as Sammy Hagar, Bon Scott, Paul Rodgers, Freddy Mercury, or Jon Anderson. Bruce is more of a Bob Dylan or Neil Young type of singer.

Bruce's strongest point has always been writing. He's turned off some with politics but the writing and music are without question some of the best in the business.

He's been consistently good. So much so that many other artists' famous songs were written or co written by Bruce.

Yeah..boy that 'Fire' song sure has some thought provoking lyrics. Put that one in the Hall of Fame...

I’m riding in your car….
You turn on the radio…
You’re pulling me close…
I just say no…
I say I don’t like it…
But you know I’m a liar…
Cause when we kiss…
Oooooh…
Fire…

Late at night…
You're taking me home…
You say you wanna stay…
I say I wanna be alone…
I say I don’t love you…
But you know I’m a liar…
Cause when we kiss…
Oooooh…
Baby it's Fire…

You had a hold on me Right from the start…
A grip so tight I couldn’t tear it apart…
My nerves are jumping Actin' like a fool…
Well your kisses they burn…
But my heart stays cool…

Romeo and Juliet…
Samson and Delilah…
Baby you can bet…
A love they couldn’t deny…
My words say split …
But my words they lie…
Cause when we kiss…
Oooooh…
Baby it's Fire…

(Music)

Oooooh…
Baby it's Fire…

Kisses like fire…
Burn me up with fire…
I like what you’re doing now…
Fire…
Touching me with fire…
Touching me…burning me…
Fire…
Take me home…

You miss the point. Other artists had hits with his writing. Everything doesn't have to be deep.

Compare it with Anyway You Want It. Most of Journey's stuff has simple lyrics. Journey had Perry and Schon to make that simple stuff shine.

I agree, it really is funny to think that someone would even compare the two, isn't it? Journey blows The Boss away. This poll proves it by a 9-1 ratio.

I know it's a pain in the ass to type out the lyrics of an entire song, but pick a song that you think might have some of the best lyrics that Springsteen has written, and then please post the lyrics.

The River

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDjQRgoOcpk&

I come from down in the valley where mister when you're young
They bring you up to do like your daddy done
Me and mary we met in high school when she was just seventeen
We'd ride out of that valley down to where the fields were green

We'd go down to the river
And into the river we'd dive
Oh down to the river we'd ride

Then I got mary pregnant and man that was all she wrote
And for my nineteen birthday I got a union card and a wedding coat
We went down to the courthouse and the judge put it all to rest
No wedding day smiles no walk down the aisle
No flowers no wedding dress
That night we went down to the river
And into the river we'd dive
On down to the river we did ride

I got a job working construction for the johnstown company
But lately there ain't been much work on account of the economy
Now all them things that seemed so important
Well mister they vanished right into the air
Now I just act like I don't remember, mary acts like she don't care

But I remember us riding in my brothers car
Her body tan and wet down at the reservoir
At night on them banks I'd lie awake
And pull her close just to feel each breath she'd take

Now those memories come back to haunt me, they haunt me like a curse
Is a dream a lie if it don't come true
Or is it something worse that sends me
Down to the river though I know the river is dry
Down to the river, my baby and i
Oh down to the river we ride

Born To Run

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rGFfO5fUvE&

In the day we sweat it out in the streets
of a runaway American dream
At night we ride through mansions of glory
in suicide machines

Sprung from cages out on Highway 9
Chrome wheeled, fuel injected
And steppin' out over the line

Baby this town rips the bones from your back
It's a death trap, it's a suicide rap
We gotta get out while we're young
'Cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run

Wendy let me in I wanna be your friend
I want to guard your dreams and visions
Just wrap your legs 'round these velvet rims
And strap your hands across my engines

Together we could break this trap
We'll run till we drop, baby we'll never go back
Will you walk with me out on the wire
'Cause baby I'm just a scared and lonely rider

But I gotta know how it feels
I want to know if your love is wild
Girl I want to know if love is real

Beyond the Palace hemi-powered drones scream down
the boulevard
The girls comb their hair in rearview mirrors
And the boys try to look so hard

The amusement park rises bold and stark
Kids are huddled on the beach in a mist
I wanna die with you Wendy on the streets tonight
In an everlasting kiss

The highway's jammed with broken heroes
On a last chance power drive
Everybody's out on the run tonight
But there's no place left to hide

Together Wendy we can live with the sadness
I'll love you with all the madness in my soul

Someday girl I don't know when
We're gonna get to that place
Where we really want to go
And we'll walk in the sun

But till then tramps like us
Baby we were born to run

I once played Steve Perry's "Running Alone" for a friend of mine who is a songwriter, and he told me he thought it had some of the best lyrics he'd ever heard.

Do you fantasize about Perry AND Jamisons cocks in your mouth at the same time, or do you prefer Perry in your ass and Jimi up in your chicletts, whitewashing your gums with his seed?

Dude, check yourself. Perry is a Hall of Famer, a true legend who departed at the top of his craft. However, you should hear him talk of Bruce. He fawns over him with all the respect you other toothless cocksucking freaks lack.Jamison is from a fucking garage band who opened for REO and The Outfield. Riveting shit there!

I'm a fan of Springsteen, but Journey all the way. Example, Why Can't This Night Go On Forever. Between the beautiful lyrics and amazing vocals it's simply stunning.

Want to be next panty queen?

Reading this uneducated, biased garbage sickens me. I don't know who is more fucking retarded, Journey/Survivor(a trainload short of a ton), or that dumbfuck Aron, or that choad Voyager. I say right now, Voyager is the stupidest shit ever. That bitch says Bruce isn't cmparable? Ok dude, why is Bruce in the Hall of Fame, sells millions of records yearly, plays the Super Bowl, sell out Stadiums, and oh yeah, is the biggest draw in the world? I guess the reason is he sucks.

Voyager can suck the foul stenchy buttermilk out of my not so clean asshole.

Rockindickhead,

your a fucking joke. I'm anti-abortion in every other case than yours. But you should have been aborted, shit for brains. The world would be a much better place.

Hmm, care to elaborate? I don't quite understand your disdain. He simply turned me on to Bruce's quality of work. It isn't that hard to understand is it?

I have never understood the musical status of Bruce Springstein. He sounds like someone is standing on his foot when he sings. Perry sounds better with a % of his voice. I own no records or have attended any concerts. I think he was more of a creation of MTV and media. He is nowhere the musician that Neal Schon is and gets by with it.

The argument is NOT about who is the better singer. LOL, if theat were the case, there would never be a thread like this, as Perry is in a class by himself. However, does it not send a message that there is a reason that Bruce is the biggest draw in the world? That he was bigger than Journey in their heyday? Just sayin'. His lyrics and emotion and true inspiration are something I personally think Journey with any of their singers never came close to. When BS speaks or sings to his audience, they feel as one with him, as he is a friend. They feel like they know him, and they trust him, to lead them somewhere.

Have you checked out some of the clips I posted above? He's not a songbird like Perry but he's got a good powerful voice.

Depends on how you define musician. Schon is a guitarist, sometime vocalist. Schon would be honored to be in the presence of Springsteen. Listen to Perry's comments in SJ's clip above.

Some of Bruce's most famous records were long before MTV existed. If you don't have any of his stuff, you're missing out on a lot of good music.

Squirt, creation of MTV, WTF? If you own none of his music nor have ever seen him in concert, you really having nothing to base such a statement on. Go buy a few of his CDs or watch a DVD with him in concert and then come back. Who knows, you might change your opinion -- or maybe not  . But "creation of MTV"? Uh, I don't think so. That's harsh. You don't have the kind of longevity he has in the music business without pure talent.

I will say one thing. As good as Journey is live, and they are indeed good. You watch Springsteen live, it's an entire step or level up. It's fucking incredible. Go watch his Live in Barcelona and tell me you don't get goosebumps.

If you can watch this clip and not like it, you are frozen .
