That was a pretty sizable crowd. I have read about that concert for years, but never realized there were that many people there.

An estimated 300,000 people attended, obviously not just for Journey but also to see the other acts, Santana Crosby Stills and Nash and so forth. Of course Journey was used to playing in front of crowds of 100,000 and upward. Here, the people were spread out and not all paying attention to each group all the time.

The vibe was messed on that performance too. That lack of Ross and Smitty really showed, IMO ... changed the nature of the songs and not for the better, IMO. Really loungy.
