What do you think?

Postby Journey/Survivor » Tue Oct 28, 2008 5:46 pm

Were Journey making reference to Survivor's "The Search Is Over" in their song "When You Love A Woman?"

I'm talking about the line "Within myself I was wrong, my searchin' ain't over...over."

I've heard that Steve Perry always liked the Survivor song TSIO, but that he also thought that Survivor were trying to make a very Journey-ish sounding ballad with it. I've wondered if Perry could kind of been taking a humorous jab at Survivor with that line?

I didn't know that about Perry liking Survivor's TSIO and actually commented about them. But we do know Schon heard Arnel doing TSIO and the rest is history. 8)

With all due respect for Perry, my feeling is that Perry's actual inspiration would have been Bryan Adam's "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman". Seriously.

Peace!

Very true.

8) :D

So anyone who's glad that Arnel is in Journey should be grateful for Survivor. 8)

While we're comparing Journey and Survivor. Imagine a song written by Peterik/Schon/Sullivan/Cain 8)

Keyboardist/Guitarist/Guitarist/Keyboardist. Peterik plays guitar so does Cain. You get the picture.

No. Survivor sings the search IS over.

Steve Perry says his search AIN'T over.

Clearly different.

But bands are great-Journey obviously on another level but Survivor would be a lot more interesting these days if Jimi was back.
