strangegrey wrote:Marty, certain people here are hell bent to discredit augeri's contributions to journey, because it artificially creates greater weight for their singer of choice (assuming their singer is not augeri). we all know the lead singer position in journey has been a hotly contested and partisan topic for years....there's going to be haters and lovers of each singer.

The sad fact is that by taking a swipe at aurgeri, now....it invalidates the theory that overtouring in journey was only a temporary cause of augeri's vocal breakdown. It's a hell of alot easier for some of these people to simply dismiss Augeri as done, toast, and no longer able to compete...because it makes those that support subsequent singers sleep better at night....and a fantastic showing by augeri at firefest, explodes alot of the myths that augeri no longer has it.

It'd be real nice if people just respected each singer for their contributions and moved on, ignoring the negative...and celebrating the positive. But this band, sadly, has been a magnet for the negative for longer than most of us have been fans....

Amen to that. Steve sang GREAT. I was there and what I heard was better than good.

And might I add that Tall Stories were certainly far from the best band over the weekend, they were a little rough, but they knew it and they had fun...

It was a cool set, but the audience in general was more enthusiastic for some other acts, but Steve absolutely delivered as a singer.

You got it right Andrew... that's the important thing and all that matters at the end of the day... Steve sounded good, and they had fun.

Glad Augeri's bouncing back I am proud of the guy always supported him.

Glad AJM and he are cool as well, that is important.

I am glad to see him bounce back to RED!!! Like wise I have always been an Augeri fan (not a wiggler mind you). There are some songs I perfer to hear him sing over Perry. But having said that, and like I have always said too "Perry is the voice of rock". Looking forward to Tall Stories 2 and more from Augeri.

Here's the only part I have seen--a small part of Close Your Eyes. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Njw8Vp6fnBU The TS part starts at 6:18.

Be aware, bad sound.

I knew he'd deliver the goods and am wishing that I'd been there to see it. There will always be another time, but I'm especially happy that this whole speculation by some that Steve A. can't sing anymore has been completely obliterated. He's always been one of my faves, and a real inspiration on top of that. The world is a much better place just for him being in it.

Sounds almost as good as the TS album - and I say that without any insinuation of soundboard witchcraft.
A MUCH stronger return to forum than the Christmas Burtnik performance.
It's great to see Steve back doing his thing.
The Wigglers can now officially rejoice.

Thanks Andrew & Marty for the nice words and the great pics of Steve Augeri! I've been a fan of his since I first saw him grace the stage with Journey.

I'm so looking forward to hearing anything he puts out on cd/dvd. It's been a long time in the waiting.....

More footage....with the exception of 'Stone in Love' it seems they plowed through the entirety of the TS album.

I am so curious to hear this.
TS for me is a flawless album, but Augeri's recent non-Journey output, "Butterfly" and "Believe," were total garbage.
Will TS 2 be like the former or the later?

Definitely the former; I liked the new ones immediately; could kick myself for not videoing any of them ... front row, hearing Tall Stories live ... Deb was crying & I was pretty much useless. Maria may have something, don't know for sure. We told Steve later on in the bar that we were excited that the new stuff rocked rather than being ballad-y; he grinned and said they liked it too.
