Really, though, the joke is broader than that ... among the 16 bands there, just about every one of them had personnel change drama of some sort. Lead singers on the same bill with their former bands (Pink Cream 69), bands with people back in them that hadn't been there for almost 20 years (White Sister), Tyketto with Danny singing again and Steve on the same bill with a different band ... If someone were to try to diagram the relationships among all these bands and musicians, it would look like a spider web.

That reminds me both Ted Poley and Paul Laine were mentioned to be there, they were both singers for Danger Danger.

Seems they all were somewhere before
but isn't that the natural life of a musician.

Music can be like a wave to a surfer
You get on & ride it out for as long as you can!

Music can be like any relationship
They have highs & lows & sometimes it just ends so you find another.

And very observant trivia I might add! I kept up with the guys from Danger Danger several years ago back when Paul was singing, and those albums were all fantastic... I ran across some MP3 bumper spots on my computer the other day that Bruno and Steve recorded for a metal radio show I used to assist with (they gave me a shout out in one). Also used to chat with Ted occasionally and we'd planned to interview him, but lost touch soon after they regrouped and wasn't sure what they'd been up to for the past few years. Anyway, would have loved to see them both.

We chicas are in Manchester tonight awaiting a 9 am flight to Chicago and then to houston via American (sorry Rick). Not sure about Maria and Val.

I'm home. Dead tired, but lovin every minute of it. It was a great weekend, loved almost all the bands and meeting up with the UK crowd. I hope they do it again next year. Now I'm really looking forward to seeing many of the bands again particularly Tall Stories, Tyketto and White Sister.

I'm sure Andrew and others will be putting up a proper review.

Yep, I loved DD but never got to see them with either singer. Would have loved to see them both sing, and see the band perform as well.

Awesome.
Stronger than I've heard him in ages.

Even throws in the "guitar!" refrain, which should be familiar to those who have the live Tyketto album.

You might be thinking of Paul Laine, who was the singer for Danger Danger when they parted ways with Ted Poley. David Readman  has a solo album out (that our dear Eric plays on :D ) and his band were both on the bill doing their own sets. The former lead singer for PC69, Andi Deris, is with Helloween (I believe), so I doubt they were at FF.

EDIT: Just saw others noticed the same thing, but I hadn't read the rest of the thread. I'll leave it here anyway due to the additional content. Never mind...

Interestingly enough Ted Poley and Paul Laine got on stage together during the Danger Danger set - they appear to get along very well. Bruno Ravel and Rob Marcello (danger danger) also supported Paul Laines set saturday. Both sets were absolutely great stuff

Well, one of us is here! Thanks for the kind words...we're working on some live dates for 2009, and will be hitting the studio in soon. Currently mixing the audio for the FF DVD...leaving (most) of the bad notes in the mix... I think it will have more soul that way, don't you?! I have a decent video of Save Me Tonight my son shot from the balcony at FF that I might ask Andrew to put up on MRX if you guys want. Still hard to believe it was 20+ years since we played those songs...and most people don't realize that was only the second time Rick and I have played live in 8 years! Shit, I AM old!

The spirit you all have for melodic rock, and all the artists involved makes it impossible to go back to the rock we've been hiding under. Looking forward to getting some new music out there, playing some shows, and meeting more of you crazy MR.comers...maybe I can even talk some of the other artists who pop in here to come down and sing with us...hint hint...

Awesome, awesome, awesome! Can't wait for the show dates and the new music! I vote for definitely leaving the not-quite-perfect stuff in the Firefest DVD ... that was part of the magic of the weekend ... you guys reunited and working it out with Kyle and Jason, Tall Stories going on with practically no rehersal, several bands with borrowed guitarists and fill-in lead singers, the idiotic smoke machine choking the singers and obscuring the stage ... and the fans loving all of it.

it was a really good one, so ... okay, enjoy!

You should come to FF VI with Crazy Deb and me next year; we could use a body guard and someone to schlep Deb's 200 pounds of (totally excessive) baggage on and off trains. Oh, and the bands rock too! :D
