OT: NFL Week 9

Postby Enigma869 » Sun Nov 02, 2008 10:43 pm

Okay guys...here we go again! The season is now more than half over, which fucking depresses me, but that's not the point of my visit
I like Denver over Miami, because Miami can't keep winning, or I'll have to accept them as an actual NFL team! I like the Colts to beat the Patriots tonight, because if they don't their season is OVER! I like the Giants to beat Dallas (have I mentioned I despise the Cowboys and their horribly run orgranization). In the game of the weekend, I like Pittsburgh to beat Washington, in a close game. I think Atlanta beats Oakland (because who doesn't beat Oakland). Finally, I like the Titans to stay undefeated, and get by Green Bay.

John, I must say..I look forward to your Weekly NFL thread! Even though we butted heads early and I'm sure it won't be pretty when Pittsburgh faces N.E...but.. you're a cool S.O.B!

With that said.. I thought I had a pretty good understanding of last week, and I went 1-3.. bold judgment and bold predictions regarding NFL football could come back to bite yah in the ASSHOLE, and I paid last week, haha.

I'm not stopping. To pick right in the NFL you have to sometimes go out on a limb when sometimes you don't want no part of it.

This week I like Favre and the Jets to go into Buffalo and take care of business. Favre gives them that element of leadership, and with a division game on the line to stay in the hunt, and with already losing to the Pats earlier this season, I think Mangini and Favre will have this team ready to beat a good AFC team within the division if they want to make a push for a wildcard, or division championship. Jets by 9.

Gaints over Cowboys. The Cowboys got me last week.. the difference maker? Offense. Eli has been playing at a probowl level, and with a pounding back in Jacobs working behind a beheameth OL (Which gave up 0 sacks against sack leading Pittsburgh) and with a fresh Plax I think Eli will put up some points in the redzone against a soft Dallas D..the one we saw before last Sunday against the Bucs. Giants by 13.

Miami over Denver. It seems like Chad Pennington was a little bit of what Miami needed in the passing game and at Quarterback.. and he's been red hot lately. Miami could be sitting at 4-3 if they could of (and should of) beaten Houston and tied for 3rd in the Division and making a run at 2nd place in the Division/Wildcard spot in the AFC. Denvers Defense is just pussy-poor from top to bottom and I look for both Ronnie Brown and Pennington to put up big numbers. Plus, Joey Porter returned to Pro-Bowl form and leads the NFL in sacks. When he's on...his team's on. Miami by 15.

Colts over NE. Should be an interesting game. Once a heated rivalry, it seemed to cool down a little bit due to the fact Tom Brady is out and Peyton Manning and his Colts has just downright SUCKED. Still, I like Indy only because the Pats Defense isn't the Titans Defense, and with a MUST win in a frenzied dome on Sunday Night against none other than the Patriots.. I think Manning mans up and delivers big after a big beat down last week. Cassell plays well, but Manning plays better. Colts by 10.

Titans/Pack. Too close to call. With Rodgers recieving an extension earlier this week, and with The Titans coming off of a big division win on Monday Night, this might be a big opportunity for the Pack to make a statement. But it's in Tennessee, and that defense plays like caged DOGS. Too close to call for me. We'll see how it plays out. My gut says Greenbay but my head says Tennessee. Could go either way convincingly.

Pittsburgh over Washington. Last week was a tough pill to swallow, esp. after losing a game because of fluke reasons you RARELY see in a football game. Pittsburgh use to be BEASTS against the NFC. Not this year..we are 0-2 against the NFC..both in the same division, and now I think we answer the phone on Monday Night Football in front of the world to show Pittsburgh will be there late in the year. West Coast offense for the Redskins. A type of offense that hurts Pittsburgh. Nonetheless, I see Wash moving the ball but Pitt's D tightening up like they do so well when their backs are defending their endzone. Portis won't run on us. Noone runs on us. Ask The NFL's leading rushing team and Jacobs about that. Ben gets Willie and Santonio back this week. Lets see if they can step it up some under the lights, offensively. Steelers by 8.

Upset Special of the week:

Cincinnati over Jacksonville. I'm completely going out on a limb and I'm actually embarassed to make such a prediction giving that the Bengals would lose to Texas Tech by at least 25 points. Still, upsets are big in the NFL, and this is a prefect scenario, and I'm taking it. This one is for you Progs. Cinci by 2.

I took St Louis -3, Tennessee -4, Denver -3 and a half, Oakland +3, and under 50 in the Denver-Miami game. Right now I'm definitely leaning toward New England +6 this evening.

That pick is looking pretty good, thusfar. That said, it is the Bungles we're talking about, so I wouldn't be stunned to see them piss it away. How about KC completely smoking Tampa Bay! Got to love the NFL!

Cinci did their job to TRY to gag it away. I was spot on on 2 picks thus far. Jets did indeed win by 9 in Buffalo and Cinci did indeed win by 2 over Jacksonville. Tenn/GB was too close to call in OT, and Miami and the Giants are both leading early. I'm proud of myself this week after piss poor picks last week.

Poor KC..leading TB all day and TB winning in OT. Bad teams just CAN'T CATCH A BREAK! and it shows...same with Detroit. Fuckers play hard with no cigar.GREAT GAMES.

Brad Johnson needs to cherish his SB moment with Tampa, and just retire. Why embarrass yourself with the Cowboys?

While Brad Johnson is not playing well, let's not blame this shitty Cowboys team on him. They weren't playing well before Romo got hurt and still aren't. They are a classic example of a team reading their own press clippings and actually believing that they were half as good as everyone in Texas claimed they were before the season started. They have a stud running back in Marion Barber, an above average TE in Jason Witten, and a fairly average team otherwise. Also, they have one of the worst coaches in the history of the NFL (and yes, he's that bad, and always has been). They also have a dreadful owner. Those ingriedients don't add up to a prize recipe!

I'm not a Cowboy's fan so enjoy seeing them get drummed, but I'm just lamenting the thought of seeing Johnson on the bench dealing with T.O. I would rather Brad mentor a young QB like Rivers or Edwards, rather than be behind a prima donna like Romo.

You are right about Barber and Witten. The funny thing is, they are still trying the force the ball to loud mouth T-O just to make him happy and to make their trade look better than advertised. Not only this, they go out and pick up Roy Williams. I think it's pretty easy that this team needs to ride the coat-tails of Barber and Witten, and THEN T-O and his receiving core..it all stems back to the HEAD COACH. You're right, this team isn't half the team they were supposed to be made out to be.

Yeah...that Roy Williams trade just cemented what I've said about the FraudBoys. They are a very poorly run team. Williams was a top pick coming out of college (because all Detroit ever drafts are receivers), and has done absolutely NOTHING in the NFL and yet that jackass Jones gives away two draft picks for the guy. I've seen a lot of really bad trades in sports (Heathcliff Slocumb for Derek Lowe and Jason Varitek comes to mind), and this is one of the worst I've seen!

Yeah, Roy Williams has only had one good season out of like five or six seasons, so I don't see what the big deal was supposed to be.

Okay Fraudboy fans...I'm embarrassed for you watching this debacle! I think it's time for that dope Jones to fire his moron coach. He already named Jason Garrett his new head coach more than a year ago (another idiotic idea), so he might as well just give Garrett the reigns. Garrett can't do any worse!

That's another thing I didn't understand. They made a really big deal out of Wade Phillips being hired but he's always been a very mediocre coach.

Jones normally makes good decisions but it seems he's been screwing up the last two years. I'm still a bit upset over the way Tom Landry, one of the classiest men ever in the NFL, was treated when Jones bought the team.

Is it me, or is the damn patriot's offense anemic? I'm not sure if I'm watching Cassel, of Rob Johnson.....

Who says Cassel is any better than Johnson? The Patriots aren't winning many games on offense this season. The games they win will be won on defense, special teams, and the fact that they usually don't beat themselves (i.e. penalties or turning the ball over).

I thought Cassel played extremely well tonight. He had one interception because of the dumb idea to go for it on 4th and 87. He also had a beautifully thrown touchdown pass that was dropped by Gaffney and he had them in position to tie or win the game until the 15 yard penalty. He's getting better.

THE AFC WEST SUCKS and because of that...

MY CHARGERS CAN STILL MAKE THE PLAYOFFS.

Every team in the AFC West played today and lost except for the Bolts cause of the bye.

One of these days you Charger fans will understand that making the playoffs isn't really the objective. I believe the Chargers will make the playoffs also. They're in one of the worst divisions I can ever remember. Oakland and Kansas City aren't even NFL teams, and Denver has proven to be not a very good team. I think the Chargers win that division by default. They have a VERY easy schedule remaining. The only challenging games they have left are Pittsburgh, Indy, and maybe Tampa. Every other game they win going away! Now that we have all that out of the way...The Chargers aren't a good team and won't get out of the first round in the playoffs!

The NFL is littered with history of teams that have won the Super Bowl just by squeaking into the playoffs.

All a team needs to do is get to the playoffs and play their best ball then.
