All a team needs to do is get to the playoffs and play their best ball then.

Watch!

No use trying to explain this to JFB, ttango...he trumpets his disdain of the Chargers with adolescent glee, like a pimply-faced Boy Scout tacking another merit badge onto his sash.

The Chargers did exactly what they needed to do after they got back from London to begin their bye week: they shit-canned their worthless, vanilla DC, and promoted Ron Rivera to the position.

During his time as DC of the Bears, Rivera became known for his aggressive play calling and ability to adjust in real-time. He's good enough that several teams (including the Cardinals, the Steelers, and the Chargers) have considered him as a potential head coach in recent times.

ttango, the Bolts are about to make a run...you know that, and I know that. Whether JFB "gets" that or not is of no importance.

You're a fucking dope! No wonder you like the Chargers so much...you whine like a little bitch, just like they do! Listen asswad...I picked the Chargers at the beginning of the season to be the AFC representative in The Super Bowl, in spite of their completely inept head coach. I thought once Brady got hurt that they were the best team. When they went out and lost to Miami, Buffalo, and New Orleans, my opinion changed. I believe they will win their AWFUL division by default. I also think that Norv Turner will choke away another playoff game, as he always does!

Is Rivera going to switch to a 4-3 defense. I just don't see the defense suddenly becoming top 10 all of a sudden, it's still the same players that can't get to the Quarterback.

Ya know, I KNEW you'd reply to my post, and I was prepared to say that, although you have a fairly substantial knowledge of football, you come across as a know-it-all, and that often makes you look like a retard.

Now, instead, I'll just say that you come across as a retard.

BTW, the fact that Miami, Buffalo, and NO are all good teams apparently eludes you. No great shame in getting beat by any of them.

And since you apparently slept through the fucking playoffs last season, uh, we were one game away from the Super Bowl, Einstein.

Fucking mook...

Here's hoping you end up choking on the biggest pile of crow ever served.

No, from what I understand, Rivera will leave the 3-4 in place.

The problem witrh Ted Cottrell was his play-calling...too many times, players were kept back in coverage instead of being sent to pressure the QB. And our D's stats bear that fact out.

Some people erroneously claim the reason for our D's failure thus far is the absence of Shawn Merriman. That's bullshit. When Merriman was out on a four game suspension a couple of years ago, we won all four games...without him.

Rivera is gonna bring a far more aggressive game plan and a whole new attitude back to our D. Mark my words.

Dude, I give less than a fuck what your whiny ass thinks about me. Buffalo and Miami are average teams, and New Orleans has one of the worst defenses in the league! Out of those three teams, only one of them has a winning record. The point I was making isn't a complicated one...If you're going to be an elite team in the NFL, then you MUST beat the teams you're supposed to beat, and beat a few others that you're not supposed to beat! San Diego hasn't shown an ability to accomplish that this season. They may well turn it around. There is absolutely zero excuse for them not winning that putrid division. I still think they have the most talent in the AFC, but are devoid of leaders and have a dreadful head coach!

Eli has been playing at a probowl level, and with a pounding back in Jacobs working behind a beheameth OL (Which gave up 0 sacks against sack leading Pittsburgh) and with a fresh Plax I think Eli will put up some points in the redzone against a soft Dallas D..the one we saw before last Sunday against the Bucs. Giants by 13.

Miami over Denver. It seems like Chad Pennington was a little bit of what Miami needed in the passing game and at Quarterback.. and he's been red hot lately. Miami could be sitting at 4-3 if they could of (and should of) beaten Houston and tied for 3rd in the Division and making a run at 2nd place in the Division/Wildcard spot in the AFC. Denvers Defense is just pussy-poor from top to bottom and I look for both Ronnie Brown and Pennington to put up big numbers. Plus, Joey Porter returned to Pro-Bowl form and leads the NFL in sacks. When he's on...his team's on. Miami by 15.

Colts over NE. Should be an interesting game. Once a heated rivalry, it seemed to cool down a little bit due to the fact Tom Brady is out and Peyton Manning and his Colts has just downright SUCKED. Still, I like Indy only because the Pats Defense isn't the Titans Defense, and with a MUST win in a frenzied dome on Sunday Night against none other than the Patriots.. I think Manning mans up and delivers big after a big beat down last week. Cassell plays well, but Manning plays better. Colts by 10.

Titans/Pack. Too close to call. With Rodgers recieving an extension earlier this week, and with The Titans coming off of a big division win on Monday Night, this might be a big opportunity for the Pack to make a statement. But it's in Tennessee, and that defense plays like caged DOGS. Too close to call for me. We'll see how it plays out. My gut says Greenbay but my head says Tennessee. Could go either way convincingly.

Pittsburgh over Washington. Last week was a tough pill to swallow, esp. after losing a game because of fluke reasons you RARELY see in a football game. Pittsburgh use to be BEASTS against the NFC. Not this year..we are 0-2 against the NFC..both in the same division, and now I think we answer the phone on Monday Night Football in front of the world to show Pittsburgh will be there late in the year. West Coast offense for the Redskins. A type of offense that hurts Pittsburgh. Nonetheless, I see Wash moving the ball but Pitt's D tightening up like they do so well when their backs are defending their endzone. Portis won't run on us. Noone runs on us. Ask The NFL's leading rushing team and Jacobs about that. Ben gets Willie and Santonio back this week. Lets see if they can step it up some under the lights, offensively. Steelers by 8.

Upset Special of the week:

Cincinnati over Jacksonville. I'm completely going out on a limb and I'm actually embarassed to make such a prediction giving that the Bengals would lose to Texas Tech by at least 25 points. Still, upsets are big in the NFL, and this is a prefect scenario, and I'm taking it. This one is for you Progs. Cinci by 2.

Good week, dude! I won't say your picks were perfect because you straddled the fence WAY too much on that GB/Tennessee game! I got them all right this weekend, with the exception of Denver. Denver sucks FAR more than I thought they did! Let's start a radio show and talk football

Hey, I'm all for it. We'd make a good team. Between us I believe we went 9-1 this week. Spot on analysis. Wonder how much the so called "experts" get paid? We can match them and make a living out of it! haha.

Week 8.. 2nd half of the season. Lets start keeping track of our picks from now 'til the Superbowl. That's what, 12 more weeks? We should pick 4 games or maximum of 5 with a MUST PICK FOR AN UPSET..even if there isn't one.

So far starting now it reads:

YoungJ- 5-0
JohnFB- 4-1.

Game?

Anyone else feel free to jump in!

Considering the game went into overtime I think that makes his "straddling" all the more impressive. It's like he knew the game was gonna be close as shit...and it was. Why are you seemingly discounting that? :? I found it to be his second most impressive pick, with the upset special Bengals being the most impressive. And if you guys are going to select teams please use the spread. Anyone can pick the "straight up" winner of a game...except me last week. :x  The Patriots bailed me out, though. :D

A couple of points...First and foremost, I'm not a degenerate gambler so pay no attention to point spreads. Also, picking games "straight up" is far more difficult than having points as a cushion! That's why most people always stay away from "pick 'em" games on the football card, because they have no points to play with.

This might be the dumbest thing I've ever read. John, had I bet the Patriots every game last year "straight up" I would have went 18-1. The point spread is implemented to make the game a 50-50 proposition.
