Yeah, it probably won't happen and it'll be business as usual, but for one brief moment here, I'm feeling pretty good about the future of America.

I had no candidate at all in time around -- was more discouraged than in any other election in my lifetime. I think most people know I'm pretty conservative, but I will say that the Repubs deserved to have their butts kicked this time around, and a large part of me is glad for seeing it happen. Maybe the rejection will make them rethink the importance of putting principles over politics.

Setting aside my ideological differences with Barak Obama, I offer my sincere congratulations on his victory and in my heart I'm truly excited to see America led by the first black President. I hope that he will make great and wise choices and that his historic accomplishment will be a light and inspiration to everyone. His victory has shown along with every other President's before him that in America there is truly opportunity for all if you have the initiative and drive to find it.

Warm fuzzies aside, I do have one general thing I wish to communicate to the new executive and legislative branch -- I'm NOT RICH, I just work for a living. Please do not take anything else from me... haha!

PEACE to you, Brywool. :)

Now what I'm really hoping is that race pimps like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton will go away for awhile.

They won't. Now they'll probably feel even more entitled. I fear an increase in racism from all sides.

Yeah, I know I kind of fell into the HallMark, Oprah view of "new America" there. Apologies- and I expected to get slammed for it (especially here). But for the life of me, I can't remember a time when I was this proud of my country. It seems every election I've participated in, it's just gone to the next dirtbag, this includes Clinton. I liked the Clinton years, but he was a pretty snakey guy and THAT became the whole focus of his term in later years. I hope to Hell that Obama doesn't get corrupted like they all seem to. Yeah, I know he's just a guy, but what he puts across in his speeches gives me hope that we'll actually turn a corner and become what America is supposed to be. I'm a pessimistic dude, so I doubt it. But for this brief, 24-hour period, I'm pretty euphoric.

Regarding McCain- GREAT concession speech.

Obama is just as much white as he is black so why does everyone keep referring to him as "the first black president?" What if I want to call him white? It's just as fucking stupid. He's clearly a half-breed...or whatever the politically correct term is.

Racism be damned.

You sound like a liberal. Who cares. Racism is overrated in this country. There was no Bradley effect (which was overstated to begin with) and if anything the reverse happened. People voted for him because he was black. I wanted to throw up at the out of touch white liberal media last night. They made a big deal out of it when everyone who lives in reality knows race doesn't matter. I knew race wasn't going to be an issue since day 1. I was the guy who was calling a 40 state landslide when he first announced. I was the one who knew he was going to be president and in 4 years after the convention speech. This big social statement last night is overblown. Is it a fact, that he is the first black president and that is history - sure. But, race issues went away along time ago. By the way, those tears you saw from Jesse Jackson last night were not tears of joy. Those were tears of sadness because he knows he's out of job. No more race hustling for him. Jesse - You're Fired!

Believe it or not, John, you now get crucified for using that word (mulatto). "Bi-racial" is now the politically correct term. I still prefer "half-breed" myself.

come on man-
the fact that he's now our president IS a big deal as far as race goes and as far as the US as a whole. Just look at the effect that his winning had on the blacks that were shown last night. They were openly weeping, celebrating, cheering. So were whites that want to move the US ahead on the friggin' evolutionary scale. I don't think it matters so much to whites what his ethnic percentage is, but it definitely mattered to the black community. It mattered to me a lot. I didn't think we'd ever do this. I think it's amazing and it screams progress. It was a great moment in history.
The WORLD is looking at this as a good thing. When's the LAST time that happened.
I dunno, I'm thrilled and filled with hope.

sniff, sniff... "I LOVE YA MAN!!"

Call him white, polka dot, whatever. The politically correct term is "Mr. President".
