How'd you find MR.com?

Postby Ehwmatt » Tue Nov 11, 2008 8:05 am

Just curious, how did all of you stumble onto this great site and community for the first time?

If I had to guess, I'd say I've been reading the front page since 2003 or 04. I believe the site was linked from Back Talk. Been coming here ever since, and I've found so much great music since then. Just among the albums I would have never had the pleasure of listening to without Andrew/you guys here:

1. All three Pride of Lions albums
2. Jim Peterik - Above The Storm
3. Loverboy - Just Gettin Started
4. Rick Springfield - shock/denial/anger/acceptance
5. Rick Springfield - Venus In Overdrive
6. Survivor - Reach
7. Chicago - Stone of Sisyphus
8. Dennis Deyoung - 100 Years From Now
9. Neal Schon - Beyond The Thunder

Woulda found (and did find) some of the more mainstream stuff on my own I suppose, Generations, Arrival, Styx's Cyclorama, REO's Find Your Own Way Home, Asia's Phoenix, Meat Loaf's Bat III, etc.

But man, there's so much great music I would have never found if it weren't for my stumbling onto this site 3 or 4 years ago. That's why I'll never stop comin back.

MR was mentioned on Lepp and Journey's site back in 2006.

First trip to meet MR folks was shortly after the Lepp/Journey tour. Flew out to CA for the first time for ARF and met Mel and Lynn.
What nice folks they are. 8)

No lie... in a sleepless night of radio DJing, and after hearing some random loon rumor, I googled this:

Results wrote:Neal Schon gay

And found this:

Read this:

And the rest, so they say, is history. I've been hooked ever since.

I found it to be pretty much like a jr. high boy's locker room when I first started reading it (2006). Then it grew on me.

Behind the Music aired prior to the Arrival release. Not sure if BTM mentioned journeymusic.com but BTM rekindled my interest for Journey. Through Journey's own message boards, I found out about melodicrock.com and Andrew. Andrew was usually the first to post about breaking news and I must say very credible and reliable.

After the 2006 concert, I signed up over at BT, and they kept mentioning MR. I had no idea what MR meant, so I searched for it on the internet and found it.

I read this forum, and was hooked rather quickly.

This is one of the site listed when i searched an article about "Journey revelation album review". Enjoyed reading the Journey forum since then.

I found the front page when I first got online around 1999. I am sure i was searching for info on Journey or other similar bands. Started visiting the Journey forum mostly after the VH1 meltdown, but had posted a little before that (I think).

At work with a lot of time on my hands so looking at music sites. I'd thought this band had been long gone anyway. Didn't even know about SA replacing SP and all the drama.

Unfortunately it was during the tape gate stuff when a few friends asked me if I had been reading. I had not, but soon took a look see and found it troubling but interesting at the same time.

After lurking for a while, I decided to take the plunge, so here I am.

This friend of mine, Melissa  :P  After we had seen JSS with Journey the summer they toured she started posting here and it took months for me to get brave enough to sign up and start posting. I was a lurker for a long time. Glad she introduced me though, because it has been a great time getting to know people we have things in common with and our travels have been the best 8)

Um I knew about it through BT. I didn't post but I lurked. I actually remember when Deano joined and everyone kept thinking he had just misspelled Deeno.

I lurked a while before too, was a JSS fan before Journey, but hadn't been paying too much attention to music for a while, then started to again.

I was pkrbkr then... he broke the story with perry leaving...and Augeri hire was at steven lakes journey fan site before here... and you know what ...the forums back during the TBF time period was the most hilarious reading!! People were talking about stalking Cains studio so they can get a glimps of Perry..dont remember if that was at this site or another forun page... I think it was here... anyone else old enough to remember that time period.

google was not yet invented...it was netscape...

Often dropped by the Zoo Faithfully cover vid on YT shortly after hearing of AP in January. For some time, concerned viewers of the clip kept quoting constructive remarks from MR threads.
