New Survivor Band Note from Robin 11-4-08

Postby Slander » Wed Nov 05, 2008 1:39 am

Sounds like they are working on something. Let's hope so:

11/4/08 - Hello Again

Sorry I've been somewhat absent from posting my band notes, but I know the ever relaible, always on the ball, loves to tell everyone he's Irish 2, Frankie Sullivan has been taking care of that lol!!!! Whew!!! I feel so much better now.

What another great year we've had building and energizing each other and of course getting out in front of all of you "THE FANS". Thank you all so much for your endless support and kind words. Two years have passed already since I joined this great band and I've loved each and every show. I realise that for some of you it was not an easy transition seeing me out front singing the songs you have grown to know and love. But you, you the "true fans" gave me the benefit of the doubt and allowed me to put my stamp on these great tunes and I am forever greateful for that. It is after all "The Songs" that matter most. To all the promotors who didn't know for sure what they would get from me, once again all of you made me look good in front of them. I look forward to many more years working with all of them.

As we approach this time of year (more on that in a bit) and as things wind down somewhat, fresh new ideas are already beginning to flow between Frankie and myself. As some of you may know the "Business as Usual" cd was a direct collabration between Frankie and myself some years back. No strangers in working together in the studio this next writing faze will for sure produce some great new and memorable tunes. Some things are just meant to happen I guess?. The band is really tight right now and ready to throw down in the studio. Mark's drumming during our shows sometimes leaves me just staring in disbelief. The guy is a monster and with Billy O and Nevada locking it down my job is easy. God is good, thank God.

Survivor also has a great "myspace" site thanks to our hard working friend Mary Hanly who keeps it updated regularly. Check it out and send some pics if you like. Be careful though as I've seen some really scary one's of me. Oh! well just something else for me to work on. lol!!

Changes are indeed coming our way in this great country we live in. So get out today Tuesday Nov 4th and exercise your right. Know that whatever direction you might take you took it for reasons known only in your heart of hearts, so be true to your beliefs, be true to yourself.

Finally as I have asked so many times at our shows, before you close your eyes to sleep tonight turn to someone you love and tell them just that "I luv you".

To "The Tampa Bay Rays" for having us rock their world series rally! to the "Kennedy Space Centre" and NASA's 50th anniversary a big thank you!!!!!!!

Most of all, to all of you THE FAN'S again and again----Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Talk again real soon

-- Robin McAuley

Again, it's great to hear that their working on some new songs. Hopefully we won't have to wait too long for the next album.

And yes, Marc is vitally important to the Survivor sound. It's just not the same without his drumming. I hope Marc gets to Rock more on the next album than he did on the Reach album. And of course the same goes for Frankie too.

Yes, many of us have preferences for either Jimi or Dave on vocals. But Robin's a great singer too, and he is the current lead vocalist of Survivor, and I'm glad that he's helping to keep the band alive. He seems like a nice guy too.

Maybe they should redo a MSG song or two, so they can slip that into the setlist.

Not only "NO" but "HELL NO!!". They don't need to re-record any MSG songs. And while I am against it, there is nothing actually stopping them from 'slipping them in' to a setlist.

*sarcasm on* Of course they only play 8 shows a year and most only have a setlist of 7 songs, so there really is no room for any outside material. *sarcasm off*

Another band note by Robin from Nov 11. About their show at Cape Coral.

Cape Coral-Sunsplash Water Park
(11/11/08)

Thanks everyone for showing us a great time at the Sunsplash Water Park/Cape Coral FL.You guys sang and rocked out the entire show. We had a blast and even met some old friends we haven't seen in a long time. We hung out at the DECK Bar after the show and met more crazy people where we kicked up some dust and sank a few cold one's. Thank you all for some very kind words and undying support.Hopefully we'll see you all again very soon.Have a wonderful Holiday Season one and all.

Strangely 3 band notes in less than 2 weeks, not bad

3 notes without saying a single word.

Unfortunately, it seems to me that their only in the early stages of writing songs for a new album. And frank did say that their in no hurry. So I think we've still got a long wait ahead of us. :(

But here's the real question...

Who do you think will have a new album out sooner between Survivor and Steve Perry? I'm of course talking about brand new recordings, not a compilation.

You gotta pick one, which is it???

Now that's a really tough one. However, Im very sure Perry would NEED to do an album more than Survivor needs to. What I mean is Survivor can still earn bucks on the road, while Perry I don't think will be ready to do any type of show live to earn from that. Then again, Perry deosn't really need to work. Its back to square one.

We've been told multiple times here that Frankie can buy and sell all of us and so the band's not in it for the money.

I'm not so sure anyone ever put it it that way Red, however I think FS must be in a good place if he is not forced to crank out "product."

Well, let's see. Frankie and Robin have talked about working on a couple ideas. Perry has supposedly played a demo of a couple ideas. That puts Perry in the lead so far. Not only that, as pointed out, Survivor actually DOES play a couple a gigs a year...Perry does not. So Perry strats to pull away. Add to that Survivor "talks" to their fans more than once a year and now it looks like Perry's got nothing standing in his way.

I would assume so....they are reforming without their real lead singer and doing a tour....obviously motivated by the cash so I am sure an album will be forthcoming....but Survivor did a studio album a year and a half ago....I would not expect one for at least a year.....

All good though....

From Frankie Myspace yesterday......

"Frankie reports that he and Robin McAuley have begun writing and have one song already written. It is called "Still In Love with You."

Frankie says: "We have made a major commitment to recording a project that is undeniable. With Robin, I get the Team Co-Writing Environment I had that was so successful In the past!"

Frankie adds: "Robin is another "Music Making Machine", and as when I wrote with him in 1993, I recall all of the enthusiasm and attitude he brings to each writing session. There are no credit demands going in and it is a free flowing atmosphere only dictated by creation itself."

Frankie also reports: . "I am doing an interview on camera for a special on me for the BBC today at 3PM at CRC in Chicago." We will have footage to show you soon.

Sounds exciting folks!! Stay tuned....."
