I have...a couple of times. I'm not sure quite what to make of it thus far.

Dio - The Last In Line. Hadn't heard it for quite some time, what a great record it still is.

Yeah, he's a tremendous live singer!
Hope to see him on tour with Heaven and Hell next year. In the mean time I'm looking forward to their new record very much!

Cynic-Traced in the Air.

Their first album (Focus) came out about 15 years ago and was seen a genre defining Tech/death album.

This one has very little death element and is more progressive. All the playing is top notch...vocals are a bit weird and processed but i can dig it.

AOTW: Karnataka - The Storm

Nice, smooth and what a great voice the singer has. Too bad she has since left the band (but is now singing in The Reasoning - so yay!)

Ride The Sky - New Protection. Uli Kusch on drums, and it's like a slightly weaker version of Masterplan, with a bit of Beyond Twilight. The singer sounds so much like Jorn Lande it's uncanny!

The singer and guitarist (brothers) have a band called Tears of Anger that i reckon were/are a bit better than RtS....check out the album "In the Shadows" if u get a chance.

Didn't care for Ride the Sky that much.

Personally, I wish Uli would reunite Beautiful Sin. We need more Magali Luyten in the metal world. The only thing better than Jorn Lande is a female Jorn Lande. :P

I have two AOTWs (to make up for lost weeks.) Glen Burtnick "Talking in Code," and Tim Feehan "S/T." It was much long overdue: Two AOR gems, finally reissued for not-quite reasonable prices (but then, $21 is better than $150.)

I already went to their Myspace and wanted to pick up TOA as well this week, but the record store didn't have them in stock. :( Just listened to the songs on their own website and now I'm going to say it really sucks that the record store didn't have their CDs. TOA sounds like the more varied and heavier of the two bands.

Noticed the brothers are named Benny and Bjorn -their parents must have been fans...

What I think would be interesting is an Uli Kusch/Jorn Lande record. Both weren't happy with the style Masterplan played; Uli wanted more progressive and Jorn wanted less screaming. I would love to hear the songs they would write together.

You should/could get them from the lion music website....usually cheap shipping....although this time of year you might not get them in a hurry.

Not sure when it's due, but it looks like she is the singer on the next Frameshift cd as well.

"Henning Pauly has stated on his site that the next Frameshift album will also be adapted from a Richard Dawkins book, The God Delusion, but will feature two vocalists, Pauly has stated that they are: "Magali Luyten from Belgium (Virus IV, Beautiful Sin, Ayreon) and Dan Swano from Sweden (Nightingale, Edge of Sanity, Ayreon and many more)"."

AOTW: Voodoo Circle - S/T

Side project of Alex Beyrodt(sp?) of Silent Force. David Readman of Pink Cream 69 singing. Haven't given the whole thing a listen yet, but so far it's average. Most of the reviews I've read say it's a 'tribute' to the music of Deep Purple, Rainbow, Malmsteen, etc. Not sure if I care about that part, but I've always like Readman's voice so I thought I would give it a try.

Anyone heard this?

All has been well for everybody? :)

My AOTW is HDK - System Overload. I had already been warned it would be loud, and it definitely is! Still some catchy melodies on there as well.

Empyrios-The Glorious Sickness...they've gone from Symphony X wannabes to a more heavier Devin Townsend/SYL vibe. Good change. The guitarist is awesome...he also plays in DGM which are heavily SyX influenced....maybe why Empyrios changed sound.

AOTW: Autumn - Altitude

Another female fronted band, but with a decent vocalist. She's Marjan Welman (sp?) whom we heard on the last Ayreon cd. This cd sounds to me like a nice mixture of Lacuna Coil (only without the horrible male vocals), Brave and at times The Gathering. This means no operatic vocals or anything like that, but the the singer is great. I would recommend this one.

My AOTW (albeit an EP) is 3-Faced "Married To the Wreckage"

Found this one too late, as the band has split. Female-fronted outfit, that if they had been based from Europe they may of achieved stardom. Another American talent crushed by the sorry-ass music scene.

They do a very listenable cover of Stevie Nick's "Edge of Seventeen."

I posted a topic on this group on the female rock forum.
