Rare Tito Weekend Update: Big Jonathan Cain Interview

Postby Tito » Sun Nov 30, 2008 4:44 am

http://www.suntimes.com/entertainment/m ... 28.article

I was going to mention earlier this week that this is the 50th anniversary of the devasting Our Lady of Angels school fire that killed many but our Johnny Cain survived. Fortunately, I'm not the only who noticed it. Yesterday, the Chicago Sun Times had a full 2+ page article on the fire. In it, was a quarter page or so article with Jonathan Cain. The link is above. Also, if you go to the suntimes.com front page there's Jonathan Cain. Enjoy and be thankful on this Thanksgiving weekend that the man who wrote the songs of your life survived. If he didn't, imagine how empty our lives would be. High school would've sucked.

"He has printed 1,000 CDs that will be given out at church to anyone who wants one, he said. Cain plans to put the song on his Web site,JonathanCain.com, at no charge."

Jon wants people to listen to him for free :??

John is a sensitive soal. I am sure the fire troubled him deeply. I know there are those here who don't care for him, and that is your right. But I have the deepest respect for him, he cares about others. I am not saying he is perfect, who of us are, I am just saying he is human, much like the rest of us. Everyone suffers from feet of clay. :D

92 kids and 3 nuns died. Not too many people survived the school fire. :(

This a bullshit thread. We're glad you survived the fire because you eventually became a talented muscian. Thank God it was them and not you who perished. Only talented people deserve to move on in life and this was God's way of weeding out the less gifted. Is that what this thread is pretty much paying homage to?

I've been on a roll with all my Arnel hating today and Perry bashing from yesterday. I just finished with Christmas decorations though, so I should be pretty sedate for the next few days.

You don't make it through school in Chicago, especially Catholic school, without being told the story of Our Lady of The Angels. It was either first or second grade that I heard it, and it was during the teaching about fire drills and fire safety (typical of a Catholic school, now that I think of it - they scare you into making sure you do the right things... ). I believe I got that story in more than grade too... wow, and I went to grade school when Journey was huge, and the great and wonderful Jon Cain was never once mentioned in the re-telling... how could they leave such important facts out?

My dad went to that school, but many years before the fire. If I happen to talk to my dad on the anniversary of the fire, he always brings it up. As a parent, that is one of my biggest fears--my child being in a perilous situation and me unable to save her. I pray for the children lost on that day, the children who survived, and all of the loved ones left behind.
