OT: Grab the book...

Postby bluejeangirl76 » Fri Dec 05, 2008 2:00 pm

Don't post anything else except the one sentence the game asks for.

* Grab the book closest to you.
* Don't go looking for your favorite book, or the coolest one you have -- just grab the closest one.
* Go to page 56.
* Find the 5th sentence.
* Post it here.

Mine was:

"Maybe that's how we'd find him, catch this bastard."

As angry as he felt at Manek for making him the butt of a well-planned prank, he was distressed at the loss of his fine moment of apprehension.

Well, I have two sitting equally close to me, so here are the ones from both -

"Our early grass-roots success in the clubs and colleges happened because we were playing hard blues loud when everyone else was going psychedelic."

and

"The crowd gasped!"

The split was already disastrously wide when I came to the Castle

And I shudder to think what Stevie-Woo will make of that one!
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

Aircraft & EquipmentMiantenance Management:

"3.4.1.83. Establish the Group Maintenance awards and recognition program
to meet AF and MAJCOM requirements IAW AFI 36-2818, USAF Maintenance Awards Program

Actually, once I started making up my own meanings for the acronyms, it was kind of fun!

I'm downstairs where the nearest books are my old textbooks, so you get Darwin - not much fun on that one!

Many disk drive manufacturers advertise drive sizes in millions of bytes (for megabytes) or billions of bytes (for gigabytes).

"But in Plato, St Augustine, Thomas Acquinas, Descartes, Spinzoa and Liebnitz there is an intimate blending of religion and reasoning, or moral aspiration and logical admiration of what is timeless, which comes from Pythagoras, and distinguishes the intellectualised theology of Europe from the more straightforward mysticism of Asia. "

Of course....I have no clue what that means, but it might mean that the "Final Countdown" was a smarter song than "Heat of the Moment" :D
