Does Steve really have a pizza chain? And how do you know he has taken off for personal time? Is this about his hip?
 :D

Yes, it's called "A Thin Slice Of Portugal" His hip has healed, and is fine.

That's cool, where is the chain? Did he have another replacement, or are you saying that his old replacement is fine? Thanks for the info.

And Barry made it perfectly clear that he was retiring. Perry has never indicated as much, and if he truly has retired he did so nowhere near the top. Are you telling me that his swan song was that high school gym tour with half-ass musicians (relative to Journey)? Or was it the TBF debacle and not touring in support of the album? The man hardly went on on top if he's done. In fact, relative to their "hey day" his exit was quite unimpressive.

StocktontoMalone wrote:Why can't people just get it through their heads that the guy just wants to be, not only left alone, but wants to be remembered as the 'voice' on those 'classic' cds.

Then he needs to quit sending out the bullhorns with their "he sounds like he did in the mid-80's" message.

StocktontoMalone wrote:He is a self-admitted perfectionist, and wouldn't put any half-assed music out there.
You're kidding, right? Check out FTLOSM and those Against The Wall wrist slitters. Not to mention that TBF showcased him as 3rd best with Smitty and Schon stealing the show on the entire CD. Perry had become 3rd best and a tour would have only proven that. Whcih is exactly why he should have let Journey move on gracefully with Chalfant and Rolie, but he chose the low road, put 2 guys out of work (something he's become quite good at), stalled Journey again, and put them right back to square one. No one ever said the man was dumb.

SJ, I've always wondered, how were they going to handle two keyboardists, Jon and Gregg, if that had happened with bringing on Chalfant and Rolie?

Cheekymonkey, welcome ... I don't know if you are being tongue-in-cheek (oops  ) or what, but Steve only had 1 hip replacement surgery (that we know of). That was in Oct 1997. He has stated quite a few times in interviews that he has fully recovered from it. And that if anything has slowed him down, it's old age  "I'm not young anymore."

Thanks for the welcome. No, i'm not being cheeky. When you have a replacement early in life, because our activity level is much higher than that of most seniors, we will have to have more than one, as they wear out. They're only good for about 10 years, and Steve's is 11years old.
That is why they try to get people to wait as long as possible for joint replacements like hips and knees. My hip is only 3 years old, and I am now experiencing some issues. I have been approved for a new knee, but am holding out as the technology is not as good as hips, so each knee replacement will be worse than better. I've had this hip shit since I was in my teens. Just arthritis. Someone said that they heard on CNN that Steve was back in the hospital for his hip, why is why I asked to confirm this.

I have said here time and time again every time someone dredges up that "if only SP stayed away and let Journey reformed with KC and GR" scenario ..., how do you know they were serious? Maybe it was a ploy by Neal & Jon to get back at Steve. After all, they waited 7 yrs for him to get the itch again. And, what did he do? He made a record and went on the road -- without them. There were supposedly songs written by these newly formed bandmates -- Kevin said
he had material stashed in his sock drawers. Why haven't we heard any songs -- demos of any sort --

It doesn't have anything new on it, just another repackage of the some old stuff. There might be some new liner notes though.

Oh, this was talked about already in another thread. Another re-compilation of songs taken from all 3 of SP's albums (ST, FTLOSM, GH+5). This is his next release, with liner notes writtten by him specifically for this cd.

We were hoping for "new" material :( .

I recall October 1998 for his hip surgery...I remember as it was the date I moved to CA from NY...a date that shall live forever in my mind.
So that's 10 years...
