Guy is a monster...I wonder if he even knew he could sing this good when he first joined Journey?

I was lucky enough to see this back in 05 on the Generations tour. One of my fave songs and Deen crushes it

I remember an interview where Deen sang at a concert and some fans were making hand/mouth gestures accusing him of lip syncing. Deen made sure that these people met him backstage where he proceeded to sing in front of them. He basically humiliated them and continued to sing other songs.

Deen has always made the point that he is a drummer and not a lead vocalist, but hearing him sing a song or two at a concert is worth the price of admission. Not too many people can sing Mother, Father but he nails it!

That was one of Drew's interviews.

Absolutely out-of-this-world-awesome!

As Neal said "amazing drummer and an amazing singer".....that's Deen. :)

If I remember correctly he did nearly half a gig back in 2005 or 2006 because Augeri just flat-out lost it for a night, poor dude.

I think I remember hearing something from Neal regarding the fact that he wanted Deen to sing harmonies on Bad English records but Waite would have none of that. :(

yea, he did about half to 2/3 of the last show with Augeri. Probably about 5-6 songs on his own, then traded lines back and forth with Augeri and/or doubled Augeri's vox on 80% of the rest of the songs.

Did anyone see him when he had to go out front and sing and use a drum tech? I've always wondered how he handled himself on stage away from the security of the drums, since he has stage fright and it's not something he was used to.

yes, I was there. He was VERY nervous (as in statue) on the first song, and slightly more relaxed (as in moving) on the second song. Vocally just about perfect though. One of a couple of magic moments on a night I'd prefer to forget parts of.
