Politicians on both sides of the aisle continually prove how dumb they think the public is. This guy was crass enough to believe he could flat-out try to sell a Senate seat. Unbelievable.

Do you think it's a coincidence that one day after Dick Durbin met with Blago to give him his opinion on who should replace Obama in the Illinois Senate, Durbin goes public with a request to get Bush to pardon former Illinois givernor George Ryan? Or do you think there was a little back-scratching going on? Blago probably told Durbin, "I'll work with you on Obama's replacement if you get Ryan a pardon. That way when it comes my turn to need a pardon after I get prosecuted for my corruption, the Republicans will remember how we had mercy on their man Ryan."

What is completely unforgivable is that Bush has not and will not even consider pardoning former border agents Ramos and Compean. Something really stinks in that whole situation.

He's been pulling that shit ever since he's been in office. I have no idea why anyone would vote for this guy - especially the second time around. He's a Democrat and I lean in that direction, but this guy looked like a con artist to me from the start. He must be good at it, because he conned a lot of people into voting for him. He is obviously a psychopath.

TWO crooked governors in a row! The last guy is currently in the slammer!

They should just put jail bars on our license plates.

The voters are dumb. He has been doing this for six years now. The guy before him did the same thing. The politicians obviously think the voters are dumb as hell.

I wonder who we will vote in next.... O.J. Simpson? Whoops... we're a little late... he got busted.

If anyone questions the fact that we are, as a country, either completely 100% a banana republic...or about 2 shakes of a freshly pissed phalus from becoming one....well, you're high.

To think that you can overtly sell a senate seat and refuse to resign after getting caught red handed....

WHO THE FUCK VOTES FOR THESE PEOPLE!?!?!?!

THAT is pretty damn funny.

But what's also funny: Rod Blagojevich was arrested the day before his birthday. LOL! Happy birfday, gov'nuh!

(Personally, I don't think anyone named Rod or Todd should ever hold executive office. Hence, I may start a nationwide petition forthwith.)

What's really scary is the jerk still has full power as governor. He could appoint himself Obama's Senatorial replacement tomorrow if he wanted to, and there's nothing anyone could do to stop him. There's talk about impeaching him to get rid of him if he doesn't resign. Even though the feds have him clearly on tape saying he wants money for the Senate seat appointment, he still swears he's innocent. What an ass.

Good on Governor Blagojevich for telling Bank of America where to shove it, after shafting the workers of Republic Windows & Doors.
Tragically and shamefully predictable about everything else.

Interesting how this insular Chitown news item got your goat Fact Finder, considering Bush's 11th hour blitz repealing regulations that have nationwide implications.
No similar outcry over your boy's repeal of safe water drinking standards, mountain top mining, or making truck drivers work dangerously long shifts?
What about his recent changing of the Family and Medical Leave Act, so that your boss now has access to your medical records (as noted by the Wall Street Journal)?

Fact Finder wrote:That article nicely contradicts the O's statement yesterday that he had not spoken to the Gov regarding the Senate seat.

What did Obama know, and when did he know it? Hopefully Fitzgerald will tell us in due time.

“I had no contact with the governor or his office, and so I was not aware of what was happening,” Obama told reporters as he emerged from a meeting with former vice president Al Gore yesterday. “It is a sad day for Illinois. Beyond that, I don’t think it’s appropriate to comment.”

This is certainly going to be interesting.

To be fair... that 11/5/08 article says "He's meeting with Governor Blagojevich today..." - do we have one dated 11/6 or later that states the meeting in fact took place? I'm not defending Obama, I'm just saying do we know that they did in fact meet before we say he's lying with regard to his statement yesterday. If they did meet, or talk, and now Obama is saying he had no contact... wow... :x

I don't believe this guy (Rod, not Obama). He came out of his house this morning all smiling and waving to the news cameras... unreal. Um, memo to Rod: you got caught with your britches down, buddy... not the time to smile and wave to cameras and act like you haven't been a corrupt motherfucker.

Asked what contact he'd had with the governor's office about his replacement in the Senate, President-elect Obama today said "I had no contact with the governor or his office and so we were not, I was not aware of what was happening."

But on November 23, 2008, his senior adviser David Axelrod appeared on Fox News Chicago and said something quite different.

While insisting that the President-elect had not expressed a favorite to replace him, and his inclination was to avoid being a "kingmaker," Axelrod said, "I know he's talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them."
...

Axelrod is now claiming he "mis-spoke"...

In Bill's mind, he wasn't sexually unfaithful to Hillary. He didn't consider that particular act acutal sex; hence, I did not have sexual relations with that woman  . That's how he rationalized it. Didn't really fly  .

Doesn't fly with me either. He might not have had intercourse with her, but I consider a blowjob to be "sexual relations" as in an act related to sex. As SOON as I heard the words "sexual relations" I was like "Aw, man, Bill, come on, whatta ya doin'?" Blatant wordplay.

I have the same feeling now... "Whatta youse guys doin'? You think we can't tell you're lying out your ass?"

Wrong thread, :( its not a beautiful day when anyone makes a mockery out us whether they are donkeys, elephants or independants and irregardless of whether we agree or disagree with em....

sadly you dont get anywhere in Illinois politics until you have an initiation and worked the ropes. I worry that the only way that Obama made it to the top so quick was because he learned to do the crooked little handshake they have over there in Chicago. I hope not.
