Larry King Sucks

Postby Jana » Thu Dec 11, 2008 12:47 pm

I've stayed a fan even through his softball interviews where he's not prepared. When it's just conversation, like with Bill Clinton or someone where they're discussing something interesting, I really enjoy his show.

But tonight he has the Anthonys on, parents of the woman, Casey, charged with the murder of her missing daughter, Caylee. Granted, I'm from Orlando, so I am up on the whole case; but it's a national story. The grandparents go on all these shows blaming the police. They are leaving out huge chunks of evidence and saying the police aren't doing their job, and Larry King either didn't do his homework or is phoning it in and countering with no hard questions or just decided not to bother b/c they're the grandparents.

Question, is it time for Larry King to retire?

Larry King should've retired about 30 years ago.

Depends if you like your interviewers to play devil's advocate or neutral moderator.
I used to hate him for all the valid reasons you listed above, but I've come to appreciate his low-key toothless approach in the age of mostly P.T. Barnum "gotcha" bullshit.
His greatest weakness is that he is an unassuming old man just asking questions.
His greatest strength is that he is an unassuming old man just asking questions.

Yeah Jana, they are ridiculously saying its the police's fault but I guess they forgot to mention the little details about providing the wrong hairbrush for DNA testing and removing and washing the pants fom the trunk when they were considered evidence....these people need to be charged for obstruction.

You're preaching to the choir, SG. There were traces of chloroform in her trunk and evidence of a dead body. And they found that she had searched on the internet about chloroform, breaking a neck, shovel. Which she later borrowed a shovel from her neighbor right around the last time anyone saw the little girl. She led the police on a wild goosechase about where she worked, took them all through Universal, saying she worked there. She didn't. They have the grandfather on police interview tapes saying he thought she did something. The child lived in the GPs' home, and they had been calling demanding she bring the grandchild home for that month the daughter left.

Larry King asked nothing. And I agree with you, I feel for the grandparents, but they are definitely doing nothing to help find their little granddaughter's body and are now obstructing justice, like you said. Oh, and you're right, they smelled death in the car and immediately washed the pants they found after calling the police. But they go on every show blaming the police.

I have followed this case from the start, very, very interesting. I knew damn well Larry wouldn't ask the hard questions, neither has the Today show etc. that the Anthonys and Casey's lawyer, Jose Baez have been on recently. I wish Nancy Grace could get the parents on her show..............

Good. With that psycho mom of hers, everyone knew she was dead anyway. I'm tired of seeing that shit running on CNN 24/7. Surely there is at least one other missing child in the nation that could be sharing that airtime?

Tim Miller/Equusearch is located not too far from the city where I live and so when he got involved in the searches we got a little more info. That poor man, I am just a little older than his daughter (would be now) and I remember when she went missing and then when they found her a couple of years later in an area they call the "killing fields" here. He has been working at finding kids ever since, but I have my doubts that Caylee's body will ever be found. It's sad that Larry King, with his national audience, couldn't pull more compelling questions out of his *** for these grandparents. They have also been on the morning talk shows where the interviews have been semi softball. I have a few questions about this case. First, how is her attorney being paid and how did she find him? He wasn't a high profile attorney and he wasn't exactly that close to her house. Why the heck didn't the parents call CPS or someone on Casey long before an entire month had passed and how could she have lived with them for so long without really having a job and they didn't know? I mean they have a really small house, were they just that clueless as to what she was doing? And where the heck has her brother Lee gone? He's another weird one and that "code" he and Casey talk in - strange! I mean who names their child with a combination of their own name and their brother's name? CAY - LEE Something strange there. Anyway, the trial has been scheduled for early January, not seeking the death penalty and there are reports the defense will file a delay in the start of the trial. Have you heard anything on local news about when this goes to trial will it be televised? I would love to watch it - Jose Baez keeps saying that Casey will tell the truth about what really is going on when it comes to trial. Is he really going to put her on the stand? She's a whackjob that loves the attention, it would be so dramatic and full of lies.

LLL, I was just at the Orange County Courthouse today and I passed by all these news trucks parked out front, and the reporters were surrounding people, so I couldn't see who it was. Inside I overhead attorneys talking about the Caylee case. Then I realized that's who it was. I mean, there was so many reporters with their mikes that you couldn't even see who was speaking. I will check on what's going on when I get back to my office after lunch and repost and answer some of the questions you had.

LLL, I don't know how they came up with their lawyer for her. He's a small town lawyer in Kissimmee, 45 minutes from downtown Orlando, and I'm sure for the murder trial he will need to bring in someone with a lot more experience in criminal law and murder trials to help handle the trial portion of the case.

Mark NeJame, a high-profile criminal lawyer in Orlando, excellent attorney, took on the Anthonys to help them navigate what was going on, because they were being harrassed at their home nonstop and deciding upon who to give interviews to and so forth. I'm sure there was no charge b/c he takes on cases like that for national exposure sometimes. But he withdrew b/c, basically, he could not control the Anthonys. They kept saying anything they wanted to and wouldn't take guidance. So he withdrew.

The same thing with Tim Miller, the man you're talking about. He withdrew in disgust. He brought a lot of manpower down here searching; but it was obvious it should be a recovery search of a body and the Anthonys refused to cooperate with him anymore.

The sheriff is coming out to address the news media right now to make a statement. Skull found near bag of remains.

Never forget the time he was interviewing McCartney (about 10 years ago). He goes "Do you see John and Ringo much?"
He meant George and Ringo, but what a goof. I usually only watch him when there's a Beatle connection. He's a bit too "Steve and Edie" for anything else. Totally out of touch.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.
