It sounds like theres a simple solution to this dude. If she wants you back she must send you to a Billy Joel concert to the place of your choosing AND pay. After you see the concert, if you want her back, thats great and everybodys happy. If you dont, after the concert just run like hell , change your phone number, (maybe even move in with another woman). When the guilt sets in sit back, drink some Captain Jack :D and think that people do far much worse things to their lovers than you did here.. the guilt will pass and you will have seen Billy J :D

I wont charge you for this advice, but if I ever run into you at a Journey gig, I'll have a budweiser.

LOL! That's a deal! And some great advice as well!

Speaking of Captain Jack, I used to pick on my ex and call it the masterbation song! :D

I have seen him 17 times (ok, 11 times when I worked at Nassau Coliseum, free is nice :) ). Most recently saw the Last Play at Shea and it was probably the best show ever. Someone wrote about the quality of Billy's non-hits and that is right on the money. There's very few songs, as a fan, that you wouldn't include in a playlist. at least for me.

being from Long Island loving Billy is a given. Like if you're from Jersey you just have to love Bruce.

Sorry hon, but when I think of Jersey, I think of Jovi. :P  Bruce's (I'm trying to take a poopoo) vocals do nothing for me. Great song writer though. :)

He is awesome, but not quite as good as Brucey, lyrically or musically. Those two played together last month. Billy sang Born to Run and BS sang Piano Man.

Billy Joel is hitting the road with Elton John. Talk about hits. Jesus Christ, what do those two have, close to a hundred or so?

Musically, he blows Bruce away. Lyrically, Bruce has him. Elton's a jerk. Used to like him. Hate him now. Crybaby, psycho.
Um, please keep the rag...
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Bruce's vocals are not bad at all. He writes for his voice really well. I don't understand people calling him a crappy singer. Dylan, on the other hand, I'll buy that for a dollar

Deb, I can tell you right now, Bruce is a better singer than Jovi. Go see them, or watch their respective DVD's. Bruce can out sing JBJ live anyday of the week, and also does not use any piped in vocals, like Bon Jovi does. Bruce's show is much more intense than JBJ as well, and add to that the entertainer value. Not comparable.

Game over.

Yeah, I think JBJ really 'tries' to kind of get his bruce-ness-jersey-ness across in shows as far as what he says and how he says it. However, it comes across as too canned and insincere. Bruce- I can't get into his voice at all.

I like Sambora better'n both of em. Great player.

This is exactly what I tell people that is so great about Bruce. You never get the same set list and always get a middle cut song or three. Also, last tour the fans were encouraged to bring signs and the band took requests, and played 110 songs. That is impressive.

Yeah, I've seen Bon Jovi twice (New Jersey and Bounce tours) and there was just something funky about the presentation that I didn't dig. Not sure what it was. JBJ uses this really tight voice live that I can't get into and his movements remind me of a David Cassidy concert I saw when I was 8.
Richie on the other hand... that guy needs to get his personal BS together and get out from under Jon's shadow.

I've never seen Bruce cuz I just don't dig his music.

Brywool, you're right. I love Bon Jovi. But when JBJ sings in concert I noticed it too. I love Richie and love it when he sings. Though, Bed of Roses, you can't get any better than that from them.

I'll give you that. I've never said JBJ was a great singer, he's good, but his vocals don't move me (he's missing that r&b/soul gene that my other 3 have  ). Always thought that he's a great frontman though, but to tell ya the truth, if ya watch JSS and JBJ back to back, JBJ's stage presence/moves don't come off near as natural as JSS'. His almost come off looking more like a partial aerobics class than a natural groove.

I agree. Jeff is outstanding, dig his stage act a lot, BUT..JSS doesn't play guitar. Does Jon actually play it live? I saw his video he had it strapped on, but that doesn't mean anything. A lot of guys wear the axe for something to do with their hands.

Jon strums a few chords, and he's gotten slightly better over the years, but his guitar doesn't really add much (especially now that there's a billion other musicians onstage with Bon Jovi nowadays...it's really lame).

I can't really compare Bruce and JBJ. Bruce is a storyteller, I think he's a tremendous singer in his own way, especially live, but while having a lot of the same roots, Bon Jovi is a pop/rock band with emphasis on singalongs, choruses, soaring high notes, etc. I'd say there were few singers in the genre that could touch JBJ vocally in the early to mid 90's, after he'd learned how to sing properly on tour but before he started getting old. There's some major similarities between the two, but vocally I think they're trying to achieve two different things, so it's kind of silly to argue which one is better.

I think JSS smokes JBJ as a frontman, but Jon did write "Livin' On A Prayer," so that's a toss-up.

I think it's difficult to compare Bruce Springsteen to Billy Joel. Two completely different types of music. I think both are geniuses at their craft. I personally prefer Billy Joel's music to Bruce's, but both are excellent song writers and performers.

I have no idea. It's so completely unecessary, especially since BJ had been playing most of their set for years and years with just the 5 main members. It added absolutely nothing, the only thing I can think of is Richie's vocals aren't what they used to be, so the extra guys are there more for vocal help than instrumental. When I saw them in '05 I was really disappointed by how little Richie sang...it was more David and the other anonymous guys onstage singing most of the time.

Bon Jovi has had piped in help for some time now. They are just holding on, trying to cash in before retiring.

But I wonder why not just hide the backup vox? They don't need to be seen.

Ya, I think the first time I saw that was on the "This Left Feels Right" dvd (bad, bad idea) with that Bobby Bandieras guy, now there's more. I'd rather them pipe in a little bg vocals if they need to, than a stage full of extras. :?

Can't stand JBJ's voice, but I absolutely love Richie's singing. I still kick myself that I missed his solo tour years ago.

Really? To me, this is a no brainer, the more live it gets, the better. Do we want The Eagles to pipe in bg vocals instead of having all their hired guns around to fatten things up?

I'm ok with canned backing vox to an extent, as long as they're being used to SUPPORT and not replace the live singing, but given my druthers, I wanna see the band sing the harmonies themselves, ugly warts and all.

So would I, that's why I said "a little" bg vocals. I would rather it be the 4 Jovi guys (warts and all) with a little bg vocals if they need it.
