Songs you can't stand, but get played at parties

Postby Uno_up » Tue Dec 16, 2008 1:50 am

So I was at a Christmas party this weekend with the host also playing the role of DJ. People are grooving to music in the background, you know...ac/dc , hendrix, van morrison, coldplay, the strokes, white stripes, zeppelin etc. I'm having fun, everyone likes it and is happy,........
and BAM!!!!!!! Some dumbass went to the stereo and threw on "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys. While I start gagging. most people go berserk with happiness except for about 1/4 of the people who go outside immediately to discuss our hatred of the fucking Beastie boys. Beastie boy hell. If I go to hell every other song will be Beastie Boys.

They can't sing, it always sounds amateurish, overblown, and lacks a melody entirely, the lyrics are frat-boy kegger wisdom-ridden, most of it is rip-off riffs and annoyingly uninventive arrangements, their sound is cluttered and piercing. what the fuck...??!! I have more arguments with people who love a lot of the same stuff I do about these hacks than any other artist by a mile. They flat out SUCK! I feel like the world is playing a joke on me that people I respect like them. It's bewildering. I heard "Paul's Boutique", their supposed masterpiece, hundreds of times because my girlfriend Stacie at the time was obsessed with making me get it and each time I heard it I hated it more than the last. FUCKING HATED IT! I honestly think people like it because it's cool to like it and secretly they fucking hate it. I have to think that to keep from snapping and slitting their throats with the CD.

Well, considering all I hear is the same 10 modern rap songs when I go to a bar around here, I'd welcome hearing the Beastie Boys.

Ugh. I'd have to find a new bar.
Lennon, Joplin, Moon, Bonham, Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Buddy Holly, Jim Morrison, just a few of the greats who died far too young.
The Beastie Boys and Michael Bolton will live to be one hundred. I'm convinced it's because God doesn't want to hear that nasty shit any earlier than he has too.

My sister, who is 46 yrs old and opposite of me in every possible way, always plays "Jump Around" from the two rap kids that wore their clothes backwards and "Get Ur Freak On" by Missy Elliott when she is at the jukebox. This bar where she does this and "our crowd" does not do rap music so needless to say everyone quickly runs to the jukebox after she does and dumps money into it so she can't hear her songs anytime again soon.

When one of my friends got married we made a list of songs for the DJ that he could NOT play...those songs they play at every freaking bar, wedding and party. Here are a few:

AC/DC-You Shook Me All Night Long

Billy Idol-Mony Mony

B52's-Love Shack

Bob Seger-Old Time Rock and Roll

Gloria Gaynor-I Will Survive

The Macarena

That god damn "Celebration" by Kool and the stupid Gang.

And I want to put out a plea to cover bands... STOP playing "Jessie's Girl", "867-5309 / Jenny" and "Centerfold".

Seriously. Stop it. Please.

I like the song, but my wife makes me dance with her when it comes on. I hate dancing, and they'll play the extended version every freakin time.

I have no idea why....but this just made me laugh right out loud...I think it's because I simultaneously thought of that song about Jose Cuervo....."after four rounds of Jose Cuervo I was showin' off moves never seen before...." hehe!

As much as I like most of Bob Seeger's stuff I don like the song "Ole Time Rock and Roll". Maybe its the sickening thought of that dirty fool rolling around the couch in his undershorts on that video for the song, or pershaps I just dont like sound of the song. EIther way I make an excuse for a quick exit.

Also dont particulary like hearing Creedence Crapwater Revival or Lynard Skynard songs at parties either.

After folks break out the te-kill-ya or the rum, they start feeling a little Latin. Invariably, right after they play the Macarena, some tone deaf soul puts on Suavemente by Elvis Crespo. It sounds like horny gatitos with respiratory ailments. Yeeeeeeeeech!

Wasn't Jump Around by House of Pain? I think those backward clothes wearing numpties Kriss Kross recorded Jump...which was frankly sh!t. Mercifully their musical career was very short indeed.

That's complete and utter nonsense. ;)

AC/DC is one of my favorite bands. In my top 5 actually.

Oh Please...the Beastie Boys suck ass.
They have ZERO talent, everything sounds like shit, they're ugly fucks, they are shallow, teenage fuck-ups who never grew up who made a few great VIDEOS which propelled them to stardom. They make Bob Dylan sound like Pavorotti, and I have to hear that faggoty sophomoric bullshit at every bar or party I ever attend. I'm sick of it...fuck them, and even though I'm sure they would be cool people to hang out with, if I ever see them I'm going shove a brass monkey statue up their asses and bitch-slap them for all the times I was tortured listening to that nasty retard music at full-volume because inevitably the chick I was with thought they were neat and force-fed that shit to me. FUCK THE BEASTIE BOYS FUCK THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Fire Water Burn"

The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire,
The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire,
The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire,
We don't need no water let the motherfucker burn,
Burn motherfucker burn.

Hello my name is Jimmy Pop and I'm a dumb white guy,
I'm not old or new but middle school fifth grade like junior high,
I don't know mofo if y'all peeps be buggin' give props to my ho cause she all fly,
But I can take the heat cause I'm the other white meat known as 'Kid Funky Fried',
Yeah I'm hung like planet Pluto hard to see with the naked eye,
But if I crashed into Uranus I would stick it where the sun don't shine,
Cause I'm kind of like Han Solo always stroking my own wookie,
I'm the root of all that's evil yeah but you can call me cookie,
The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire,
The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire,
The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire,
We don't need no water let the motherfucker burn,
Burn motherfucker burn.

Yo yo this hard-core ghetto gangster image takes a lot of practice,
I'm not black like Barry White no I am white like Frank Black is,
So if man is five and the devil is six than that must make me seven,
This honkey's gone to heaven,
But if I go to hell then I hope I burn well,
I'll spend my days with J.F.K., Marvin Gaye, Martha Raye, and Lawrence Welk,
And Kurt Cobain, Kojak, Mark Twain and Jimi Hendrix's poltergeist,
And Webster yeah Emmanuel Lewis cause he's the anti-christ,
The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire,
The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire,
The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire,
We don't need no water let the motherfucker burn,
Burn motherfucker burn.

Everybody here we go,
Ohh Ohh,
C'mon party people,
Ohh Ohh,
Throw your hands in the air,
Ohh Ohh,
C'mon party people,
Ohh Ohh,
Wave 'em like you don't care,
Ohh Ohh,
C'mon party people,
Ohh Ohh,
Everbody say ho,
Ohh Ohh,
C'mon party people,
Ohh Ohh,
Everybody here we go.
