Rockindeano wrote:Thanks for dragging up this extremely well written review. I was euphoric, obviously from the show and the post show night, but never did I say Soto was better than Perry in the text of "ever" like this Poowie clown is. Nice try Rhiannon, but no dice. You know damned well this was a one night thing when discussing what we are talking about. And notice I gave Perry his "perfect" superlative as well?
The problem with the post is that you said you were at the Mountain Aire concert...yet this is the best one you've seen?  :? And he certainly can't, and didn't, hit notes as high as Perry. If I'm not mistaken he didn't even attempt some of them...Deen did a lot of the high notes...just as he does for Arnel from time to time. Actually, I think he just finished the high notes for Soto. He may have even said that before. I can't remember because he's usually yelling at me about something.

I was at Mountain Aire. Dude, Deen wasn't covering for Soto all the time if any. You have your singers confused. This is turning into a Soto sucks thread, and I wasn't trying to make that happen, but yeah I was at MtAire, and it was great, but that was 22 yrs ago. You telling me that the Revelations shows although fresh, are better than Perry's Journey days? Many have stated that, but that's because they neither never saw Perry or the Rev shows were just fresh. This happens to everyone I might add. Again, I stand by my post.

I believe he finished off some of the higher notes.

Rockindeano wrote: This is turning into a Soto sucks thread, and I wasn't trying to make that happen,

Nor do I.

Rockindeano wrote: You telling me that the Revelations shows although fresh, are better than Perry's Journey days?
No way!!! Perry from 1981-1983 is the best singer ever to walk this planet. But I will say this...all things considered, they were better than Perry's FTLOSM shows I saw.

Rockindeano wrote:Again, I stand by my post.
I'm just busting your balls, dude. The only thing I find somewhat absurd is that Soto hit notes as high as Perry. He didn't. A music professor could probably verify that statement as factually incorrect. The rest I can dig. And yeah, you're right...the best concerts are usually your last ones. I know this summer 4 of the 8 shows I saw were absolutely incredible.

Cain, Deen, Ross and Soto appear and it was on. Soto busted out a Boston welcome and Stone in Love was started. The energy level was that of a Super Bowl, or Stanley Cup playoff game; infectious. Jeff literally took the band up with him. I have never seen Ross Valory so alive in my life. Same with Jonathan Cain. Deeno was sky high as always and Neal was ear to ear grins. Song after song, just right after one another, solid thumping, no notes missed, perfect vocals and I mean perfect as in Steve Perry perfect. In fact, Soto was better this night. Yes, he hit notes as high as perry has, and people in the crowd looked at each other with mouths agape. I didn't clap once this night. I was standing in astonishment. I was mesmerized at what I was seeing. Jeff asked the full house crowd to pull out their cell phones and wave em in the air, as Lights was started. Looking back and up at the audience, I couldn't tell if it was 1983 or 2006. The crowd was amazing, and I know more than a few Def Lippard fans were blown away. This was the best Journey concert I have ever witnessed. I have seen them over 20 times with Perry and 20 times with Augeri, and none of those were this good. I am not the only one who mentioned this either. People close to the band said the exact same thing. The band knew they gave an A+ performance too. Those guys played their collective asses off. There is NO question jeff has resurrected them and is taking them to a new level.

Journey are poised to make music's greatest comebacks. If you choose not to believe me, fine, but don't say I didn't tell you so. Those are my words but those exact words were echoed by a certain band member. The momentum they have now is phenominal, and they plan on riding it to new heights.

The best thing to happen to Journey happened this year, and I for one could not be more jacked up. This is the best lineup ever for Journey, and those with open minds who will give them a chance and see them will see what I am saying.

The only problem I have with Jeff is him wearing basketball jerseys during encores. I need to get that guy some hockey jerseys instead!

The one song that Arnel truly shines on live is WYLAW, it can only be compared against the Augeri live performance. You can't put it up against the studio version as we'll never know how that really sounded or how many takes were performed or adjustments were done to get it just right.

Oh but that's where you are wrong. Soto is now a baritone, used to be a tenor, but age caught up with him and naturally he dropped down. However, he can, did and still will hit the notes required from the Perry material.

Beautiful contribution licedick. They would have sacked Paul Rodgers, Lenny Kravitz, Rob Halford, or that fag from Queensryche, or any singer who isn't a Perry clone. Completely unfair and retarded comment. I am not about to dig up that whole argument again, so I will leave it at that.

But, he wasnt good enough to stand the comparison.- I think the new guy might be. Keep yer fuckin hair on dude - i want you to stay well.
