So you've been a jackass, err democrat, since you were 7, eh?

Congrats, Frank. I would imagine that it has to be somewhat scary/intimidating going back to school at an older age. That took balls, amigo. Good luck with your future.

Almost 40% of students in US universities are 25 and older; 40% of undergrads work full time; the percentages are even higher at community colleges. The picture of college as being for 18-22 year olds supported by their parents has completely changed. Anyone thinking of going or going back should just do it.

Oh, and warmest congrats, Frank. Never say never on going back; the itch will start again in a couple of years.

It's got 4 parts to it. Less than 17% of applicants pass all 4 on the first try. You can retake parts, so long as you pass all 4 parts within an 18 month window...

Outsourcing was eating the programming industry from the inside and it was time to change careers. It was time to get off the bus.

Despite being depressed and uninspired, I started at Stony Brook University in the summer of '04 to finish a bachelors degree I never completed. I was completely unsure of what I was going to study. Nothing sucks more than being 32, and not having a fucking clue what to do with your life.

With some luck and and some divine help, I took a required accounting class in early 05...and fell in love with the subject. I discovered it came naturally to me, and decided to major in Business Management with a specialization in accounting, which was the closest thing to an accounting major at SBU. In doing so, I accepted the fact that I was going to have to do additional school after graduating...just to collect enough accounting credits to be able to sit for the CPA exam. I graduated from SBU in may of 2007 and dove right into Hofstra University in the summer of 07, to pursue a Masters in Accounting.

Well, this past thursday, I graduated from Hofstra with an MS in Accounting.....what sucked about graduation, was that my grades from this past semester (including the grade for my fall thesis project) was not yet posted. Nothing like sapping the shit out of a celebration in not knowing whether or not you've passed your classes.

Tonight, the last grade was posted...and it's now safe to celebrate, as the fat lady has most certainly sung. You get to laugh at my goofy ass wearing a dress and a funny hat. For now, this is the best picture I can throw at you guys, as the photography company wants me to actually fucking pay them before I get a better resolution picture.

Regardless....thats it! I'm done with school forever.

I start a regional CPA firm in early january and I start studying for the CPA exam this spring with hopes of taking the first section in july.

Now, if you'll excuse me, the fat lady has sung...and I need to get so fucking drunk in celebration....that I will likely be propositioning my neighbors nativity scene by 2am!

Congratulations dude. Finishing is what's most important, regardless of age! I can assure you that you have FAR more wisdom than the 22 year olds who were awarded degrees with you.

LOL. Is that a serious question or a joke? If you're asking it from a serious platform...fraud, consideration of, etc is all covered in Audit classes. I took my audit classes during the masters program....although if you hold a BS or BBA in accounting, chances are you took it for the undergrad component. If it's a joke you're asking, hard to dispute that regular financial accounting classes will teach you what you need to know to er, eh....um....'cook the books' as you say.

However, again, back to seriousness, almost every fraud I've studied dealt with the perpetrator inventing a new way of doing things (or using old methods in new inventive ways utilized to skirt discovery)....You never really see someone get away with an old tried and true method. The greatest example is Enron, they were literally inventing new ways to defraud investors with their Variable Interest Entities (i.e. dummy corporations where losses were realized). Couple that with a breakdown of the ability or willingness of the independent auditor to do his or her job...and you've got a big ole fraud...
