Sorry dude. I'm not sold on the Chargers and don't believe they are a good team. As I've already stated, it's beyond irrelevant how many points the Chargers (or any other team) lost their games by. Saying they only lost to Pittsburgh by only a point is about as meaningful as saying they beat a bad KC team by only a point, on two separate occasions. Neither really makes a difference. It doesn't change the fact that a loss is a loss. They play in the absolute worst division in the AFC and only the NFC West rivals it for futility. They have Ladanian Tomlinson and are ranked 28th in the NFL in rushing. The bottom line is that they only have 7 wins and more than half of those wins were against the dreadful Raiders and dreadful Chiefs! I promise you that the Chargers will not beat the Colts or the Steelers in the playoffs.

Give me 5 to 1 cocksucker and we have a wager!

I don't have a pig in this pen, but I HATE Pittsburgh with a fucking hardcore passion and Indy is soft as Charmin.

20 bucks; if SD gets in, they win the first game.

Yeah?

You obviously haven't been watching the Chargers if you really believe they are "hot". They are a fraud of a team and everyone who seems to think they are a team that "nobody wants to play" in the playoffs should have a hair follicle test administered, immediately! The Chargers may win a playoff game, because even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in awhile. I wouldn't fear them, AT ALL! They have proven all season long that it doesn't take much to beat them!

Lets get one thing straight. EVERYONE is a threat in the playoffs. Who last year were picking the Giants at this point in time to win it all? Who in '05 were picking the Steelers to win it all?

Playoffs...

Postby ttango1 » Mon Dec 22, 2008 5:38 pm

2nd season, anything can happen.

That's it!

The ref assigned to the Chargers-Donkeys game is NOT going to be Ed Hochuli.

It's John Parry.

Last I checked, it doesn't make a difference how many games you lost by how many points. Whether you lose by 1 point or 100 points, it's still an "L"! The Chargers will not be a serious contender in the playoffs. They have a shitty coaching staff and too many players who have no heart!

Disagree. They are the one team, along with Baltimore I would want no part of in the playoffs.

I agree...on both counts. As a Titans fan, I do NOT want to see the Ravens OR especially the Chargers. TN hasn't matched up well against the Bolts for the last few seasons. Allthough I think John's right on about the coaching staff. But both of those teams scare me just a bit. The Colts? Not so much...TN has played them well (and won quite a few of the meetings) over the last few years.
But that's just me as a TN fan. I also disagree that they're gonna roll over in the playoffs. To me, this win today was a statement. Beating one of the finest teams in the NFL WITHOUT Vandenbosh OR Haynesworth? I think at this point respect HAS to be given to Tennessee.

But then again, I AM a homer :)

I'm a homer when I need to be, that's what diehards do. But I give credit when credits due. Yes, the Titans celebrated like this was their Superbowl. Fine. I've seen and watched football way too long to declare anyone Champions in the regular season. Ask the '04 Steelers, the '05 Colts, the '05 Bengals, and the '07 Patriots about that one. IF, by chance, the Steelers play Tenn again in the AFC Championship, it'll be a lot different than what you saw today. Hopefully their will be no shit splat turnovers like what happened against my team today. Enjoy the victory, bro.. but remember we are in the mirror view mirror.

We will see.

You are correct. sir. It WILL be different...Tennessee will have Haynesworth and Vandenbosch! :P

But trust me, I ain't sleepin on Pittsburgh. THAT'S why I give the Titans so much credit for stepping up and getting a win that no one said they'd get. ( cept John, that is :)

Um dude, Arizona is definitely not a threat in the playoffs. They are just feeding needless money to another struggling airline for a waste of time round trip somewhere cold.

and Vikings or Bears... whoever is UNLUCKY to win the NFC NORRIS division..

I still have hopes the Packers lose to the Lions this week... fitting end to a DREADFULL year for my Packers... time to FIRE MCCARTHY who said AARON ROGERS is my guy instead of Brett...

Giants are the favorites until someone beats em. I think the dolphins can make some noise.

Big deal, their replacements stepped in anyway and did exactly what they would have done.. taken advantage of an average offensive line that has been having problems ALL SEASON.

They could do no more damage than their replacements did yesterday, that's how bad the Steelers schemes are, offensively. I thought the Stillers would take it yesterday, but wasn't shocked the Titans beat us in their house, after all they were the #1 seed all year up to that point, AND they were playing at home in a frenzy. If we play next time, the Steelers won't have a brutal stretch and have to go through a pack of lions to get to you guys. They will be well rested, fresh, and have the knack on their shoulders since we already played you once. We know what to expect. There won't be no more disrespecting of the Terrible Towel. (#1 mistake.)

Deano, I was mainly talking about the AFC PLAYOFFS, but it is what it is, dude. ANYONE can take this thing. 0-0.
We all saw what Arizona did to Dallas on a fast track, and playing at home in the first round in 'Zona (where I think is one of the hardest places to play) could spell doom or upset for some teams.

It'll be fun this year to see how it plays out.

I love it when there are no heavy favorites in the playoffs and the wild cards are very capable of beating division winners. My only complaint is that several worthy teams are being shut out while the Cards and AFC West winner will be participating.

Many of those times have been changed. I believe that the Baltimore/Jacksonville game has also been changed to a 4:15 kickoff.

if the chargers win they will face the indianapolis colts in the opening wild card weekend.i'll be rooting heavily for the chargers if that happens.the denver/san diego afc west division winner will face the colts in the opening round.the loser of that broncos/chargers game will be sitting at home.

San Diego has ZERO chance of beating the Colts, or anyone else! Will NOT happen! They're simply not a good football team and have no business even being alive for a playoff spot.

enigma do you think the patriots could beat buffalo to be 11-5 and still miss the playoffs because if the dolphins win or ravens win it could happen.

i remember as a kid watching the browns go 8-8 in the 80's while the 11-5 broncos missed the playoffs.

I absolutely think it could and probably will happen. It would be the first time since the NFL expanded to 12 playoff teams that an 11-5 team missed the playoffs, so it's quite unusual. Even if the Patriots sneak into the playoffs, I believe they will also be a one and done team. Their defense is DREADFUL, and that is never a formula for success in the playoffs.

i think we might have a pretty good super bowl this year.my personal favorite would be.....

tennessee titans vs. carolina panthers

the 'smash and dash' battle.both teams claim this nickname but the winner would have bragging rights plus be super bowl champs.

one other interesting note.only once in modern history has a team had two running backs both score ten or more touchdowns in a season.

1975: Baltimore Colts -- Don McCauley 10; Lydell Mitchell 11

well this year heading into the final game of the season two teams could break that record and they are....

CAROLINA
Rushing TD

Williams 18

Stewart 9

TENNESSEE
Rushing TD

Johnson 9

White 15
