Not many bands have sold more than Mr. Big in this genre Deano. Research your facts sonny Jim.

I believe Mickey joined Jefferson Starship around 1978. That is in my opinion the best era of the band, the "Jefferson Starship years. I have a hard time with the Airplane years, though there are a few cool tunes. Not interested in the "Starship" only years at all. Too bubblegum pop for me.

But from around 1978 to about 1985 they were one heck of a good AOR rock band. Craig Chaquico on guitar and Aynsley Dunbar - good stuff.

Here is a favorite of mine from that era:

Dude, you never watched monster movies? Godzilla's playhouse? Oh man, great movies, but they were all done in Japanese. You had the star of the show say, "look, it's Godzilla!"- but what actually came out of his mouth was, "Where is my Kawazaki?" All the mouth mis ups were funny. The model trains that Godzilla would walk on and destroy as well as the little fires that the ever present oil refinery would blowup and create. Hilarious shit.[/quote]

I LOVED Destroy all Monsters.

I LOVE the Boss!

...and I love you too Deano!!! (in a non-threatening, manly kind of way!)

I'll give you the first two albums with Thomas as classic any day of the week! (FREEDOM and MODERN TIMES)
"Familiar Stranger" is a great early 80's rocker. I think they started sliding after those two, though.

But the sweet soul of Mickey Thomas' vocals are something special too. Love that guys voice.

Agreed...too bad he's mostly used it singing other people's mediocre, "professional" songs. I always wonder how singers like that could pull off sounding "heartfelt" singing songs basically chosen for them by their record company.

Also, Deano, while I agree with you most of the time, A-Ha is actually a really great band. Their early stuff is pretty dated now but they've made some really great pop records in the last eight years.

Sorry, I seem to be channelling my thirteen year old self...
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!
