Oh yes, I am sure they are, the few times I used them, I got into BIG trouble!

My parent's best friends are Chilean, and their eldest son Paulo and his friends taught his younger sister Patricia and I lots of bad words when we were 10 and he was 20. When Alicia, their mother, caught Paulo teaching us those words, she made him eat a whole cake of soap. He's much bigger than she is, but she is his Mama and she made him eat it all!

The problem is, he never told us what they meant, and Patricia only knew a few, so most of them I am too scared to say, because I don't know what they mean.
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

I agree, but I'm not going to make it! I wouldn't know how to spell most of them to start with.

Dear Carla...

Thanks for weighing in. My sincerest apologies to you if my comment of "You look too good to argue with" was taken as anything other than a compliment, as that certainly wasn't my intent. ... I'm merely paying a beautiful woman a compliment that wasn't remotely "sexist". I wish you and your family "Feliz Navidad".

WOW, did this thread start to go south... LOL! I could see it for what it was from the start -- John was definitely paying Carla a very nice compliment, and she may have misunderstood, but laughed it off - she wasn't even offended. Even though she probably knows 200 times as much English as I know Spanish, intent still gets lost in the translation -- that happens in both directions. Truth is, she is beautiful and smart as hell, definitely knows her rock, and is probably tougher than I am... If someone ever really irritated her, she wouldn't need my help -- I'll just stand back and watch.

Thanks Rip. Carla definitely was not offended by anything that I said. She sent me a very nice PM and is a very sweet person. I just wanted to make it clear that I wasn't some caveman who objectified women, as was being portrayed here! Hell, I love women so much that I married one

roycap wrote:The Mickey Thomas discussion had me thinking about all the great frontmen through the Rock era. Here is a listing of some that come top of mind. Feel free to add your favorites.

Must have a powerful, unique rock voice and stage presence.

In no particular order:

Mick Jagger
Roger Daltry
Bruce Springsteen (not a huge fan, but deserves to be included)
Michael Hutchence - INXS
Bono
Steven Tyler
Jim Morrison
Robert Plant
David Lee Roth

I cannot put Steve Perry in this category. Great Singer, but not a great showman.

I may not like all of their voices but that's a pretty good list, when it comes to stage presence. Hutch was pretty underrated when it came to big name frontmen, but gawd was he mesmerizing to watch perform. What a loss. :(

I may be risking my life and reputation here, but Robbie Williams puts on a great show, (slinks back into igloo).

No argument here. I'm sure he comes off as a cocky little bugger to some, but he is a great showman though. I bought his The Robbie Williams Show dvd on a whim, because I wanted something that had a performance of "Angels" on it. I absolutely LOVE that song! It's a great dvd, and he does put on a great show, whether or not you like his music or voice.
