OT: favorite gift received

Postby bluejeangirl76 » Sat Dec 27, 2008 3:52 am

So since we're bored and some of us have to work even though nothing is going on... everyone share your best gifts! What was your best / favorite gift that you received for Christmas (or Hanukkah or whatever it is you celebrate)?

Mine was a dark red plushy soft warm blanket from my aunt... omg, I'm telling you, I could live in this thing! :D

(I probably should have said the 4 new tires on my car, but that was such a pain in the ass to facilitate and cost me over half a day of work, plus other expenses, so it didn't really save me all the money it should have by receiving it as a gift)

I had these scattered through different collections but this brings the whole series together with updated audio and graphics.

Sherlock Holmes, the complete Granada collection featuring Jeremy Brett.

I'm at work also. I took Wednesday off instead as I knew some of my stuff wouldn't get to me until today anyway.

I know I'm setting myself up for smart ass commentary for saying this here but the truth is there was nothing I really wanted in terms of things so I requested that no one buy anything but to either give something made from or some form of expression from the heart.
I wasn't able to spend the holiday with everyone I love so the time spent with some was meaningful and calls and letters from those far away.
The best gift I received was a beautiful letter and poem written from the heart by someone I love very much.....it means more to me then any material thing possibly could and it's something that I will treasure and it will last forever in my memory.

Letters add such a personal touch to correspondence. I have kept some letters from past sweethearts that are from 20 years ago.

No smart ass commentary is warranted. There's nothing wrong with your answer. My other favorite gift was something handmade... my sister makes jewelry (and she's VERY good at it!) and she made me a pin that I LOVE.

New digital camera. Now I don't have to use the one with the rubber band that holds the batteries in.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Don't you need floorboards to go with that?

LOL! I was waiting for Dan to come in here and say something. :)
I think my hubby was trying to be a smart ass but I'm ok with that.

I also told others not to get anything for me. But the best 'gift' I received was a sort of correspondence.

Historically, I've moved away from wanting stuff. I spend all my 'disposable' income on my son....

I am looking forward to hearing how Cavazo sounds with them, though.

Best Gift? Time with family. Not much of a monetary person. Dan got me the new Paul McCartney album, it had a book showing him working in stages on some artwork. I found that interesting!
