I can tell you that there isn't a soul outside of the south who would want any part of that matchup. In fact, the NFL league office would probably cry out loud if that is what they ended up with in the Super Bowl. It's simply two teams and two cities that have zero national appeal. I don't think the NFL has to worry, because in spite of the Titans number one seed in the AFC, I simply don't see them beating the Steelers. As for Carolina, I like that team a lot. Delhomme has a ton of experience. DeAngelo Williams was a MONSTER this season, and Steve Smith is as good as any receiver in the NFL. They also have a very solid defense. I think it will come down to them and the Giants in the NFC, and I still think the Giants are the better team. It should be an interesting ride.

Ding, ding, ding! That would be the NFL's DREAM matchup. There would be more stupid stories back in New Orleans (where the Manning boys grew up) with old neighbors and friends. Archie would get more face time than he's had since retiring from the NFL. It would be a long two weeks, listening to the syrupy, bullshit stories. I believe that Indy versus the Giants is a FAR more realistic possibility than Tennessee versus Carolina, because I don't believe either of those teams is making it to the big game.

I would love to see that matchup. However unlikely, I'd also like to see the big brother give the little brother a lesson in football.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

Playoffs are a WHOLE different beast, and it won't be near than what you're seeing now. Some teams that aren't use to the pressure, atmosphere, and attitude of the playoffs just cannot handle the scrutiny of grid-iron post season.

Over confidence can sure be a crash back down to reality also, and the victims of this could be Tennessee, or Indy.. both playing hot football right now and can bid big.

The Steelers have WAY too many question marks on the offense side of the ball, and sooner or later it might come down to field position and I believe we do NOT have a punter that can pin people deep. Defense is the only hope.. that and veteran leadership that has BEEN there.. almost the same core that's been on the Superbowl team in '05.

The Colts were, I swear, trailing in EVERY game this season, or so it seemed. Peyton Manning just has that knack, and is the best Quarterback in this era, and he just knows how to win. The man is bread for football and is a true student turning into a teacher of the game. I don't think they were as dominant as they were in '05, but they have a shot. Still, I think they get knocked off.

Tennessee will fall flat on their face whether if it's against the Ravens, Colts, Steelers, or New England. My gut feeling says they blow their wad in the playoffs, hence, the over-confidence that must face reality, but as of now, are a strong contender for the 'Bowl.

The Ravens are a scary team if they clinch the 6th.. PERIOD. They got a FEROCIOUS defense (with holes no one wants to mention) and an offense with a rookie Quarterback that's winning. The reason why they are dangerous is simply because they enter a wildcard by just losing the division to the Steelers by a fingernail. They'll be smelling blood, and would welcome a re-match at Heinz Field against those criminals anyday. Would be a great game. (again.)

Panthers are a wicked threat, and I could see them in the Superbowl, quite easily. They have a running game that just CAN'T be stopped, and were 50 yards, and about 2 inches away from Home-Field advantage. Now they are on the brink of a 2nd round bye, and a 5th WC spot. Weird. Doesn't matter, the NFL is very afraid of Carolina.

The New York Football Giants are a unit I'm most impressed with. No one gave them a shot at the beginning, AS SUPER BOWL CHAMPS, and are escaping the shadow of falling off the map after a season they won the Super Bowl. Once again, a good enough defense, that compliments a bruising style of a running game. Very similar to Carolina, but have the edge because their home and championship is theirs' to defend.

If New England somehow gets in, watch out. Everyone knows what kind of damage they do in January, and they are a HOT team at the moment. Question is, can M.C handle the playoffs like he did the regular season? I'd say yes when it comes to the Pats*. A "Joker Card" team right now.

Atlanta needs to be watched VERY closely and they can creep up on ANYONE who decides to sleep. Wouldn't be shocked if they make it to the Conference games.

..I'll throw Dallas in there if they get in as a teeny-tiny threat, but, like we all know, they'll choke, but they STILL look good on PAPER.

Those are my threat teams that I can see playing for the cheese. The Match ups I can see are:

Colts VS Panthers
Colts Vs Giants
Steelers Vs Giants
Titans Vs Panthers
Steelers Vs Panthers
..or a possibility that it still COULD happen..a slim shot but,
Steelers VS Cowboys.

So obviously my common teams that I believe have the strongest will to punch their tickets to the Superbowl will be:

Giants
Colts
Steelers
Panthers
and the Titans.

Arizona
Miami
Denver
San Diego
or
Philly I believe will pose tough games, with 0 threats.

I suppose if I'd quit running 20-25 miles a week on them they'd look a little better but.......nah, I'll take the miles and the "rough" feet....thanks for your suggestion though.

I predict that the Bengals will not even be selected as parking attendents. Long suffering but very realistic.! Although, I do think 26 starters on injuried leaves some hope.

Titans @ Colts

Giants @ Vikings

Panthers @ Saints

NFL WEEK 17

Rams @ Falcons - Falcons win it easily.

Jaguars @ Ravens: The Ravens are simply too good of a team for the Jags to handle. The Ravens are already in playoff mode and will absolutely not lose to an inferior Jaguars team.

Patriots @ Bills - Due to horrendous wind conditions (reported to be up to 60 mph), this is going to be a VERY ugly game. I just can't see the Patriots losing in December, even without Richard Seymour. Patriots win a very low scoring game.

Chiefs @ Bengals - The who cares bowl. Chiefs by 3.

Lions @ Packers: My shot at laughing at the Lions for eternity. Green Bay has 100 feet of snow on the ground and about 4 degrees. This is not a fun place for a dome team. There is a reason that only one dome team (The Colts) has ever won the Super Bowl. Green Bay wins and makes the city of Detroit proud!

Bears @ Texans: I love the Texans in this game. Chicago never wins games they're supposed to win and this won't be any different.

Titans @ Colts - Pointless to even predict this game, as both teams have their playoff positioning already sealed. I suspect a lot of regulars won even play. I say the Colts win by 3 but nothing I'd bet a nickel on.

Giants @ Vikings - Vikings in an upset.

Panthers @ Saints - The Saints win in an upset.

Dolphins @ Jets: Favre goes out a winner and beats the Dolphins in his last regular season game.

Cowboys @ Eagles: As much as I'd love to see Philly win this one, I suspect the Cowboys win it by two touchdowns.

Browns @ Steelers - Another who cares bowl. Steelers win by two touchdowns.

Raiders @ Buccaneers - Tampa Bay.

Seahawks @ Cardinals - Holmgren's final game ever with Seattle. The Cardinals are a fraud and will lose their first round playoff game. Seattle wins by 3.

Broncos @ Chargers: Even though the Chargers are a fraud of a team, I like them in this game, A LOT! Chargers win by two touchdowns.

Redskins @ 49ers - 49'ers win a close one.

Not with 60 mph winds, they won't! If the weather reports in Buffalo are accurate, there won't be 40 points scored between both teams!

I saw the weather report on ESPN....I saw the goal posts bending in favor of Scott Norwood...

I think Welker will have a career day, 14 catches...160 yds. 2 TDs. Moss scores 2 TDS. Cassel throws for 300 yds.

The freakin' goalposts are falling over and are having to be anchored to the ground. I've been watching football for over 30 years and have NEVER seen anything like this. If Cassel passes for 300 yards in these conditions, they should give the guy a piss test immediately!
