DSB in Sandler's Bedtime Stories movie

Postby carleysdad » Tue Dec 30, 2008 3:52 am

The wife and I took our 3 kids to see Adam Sandler's new movie "Bedtime Stories" this weekend. I realize Sandler always puts 80's songs in his movies and that DSB was featured briefly in The Wedding Singer. However, not only was a clip of DSB played once during the movie, they also played the entire song while the credits rolled. Me and my family stuck around through the entire song. It was awesome to see and hear people singing (loudly) as they walked out of the theater. I think it's awesome that this song gets so much exposure.

That's actually kind of funny because we were walking out as the credits rolled, and there was a group of 4 teenagers waiting to clean the theater and they started singing one of the verses loudly just as we walked by. It was like being at a concert  It always cracks me up how many young people know all the words to that music. Of course my kids do too

Against making money?

No, if I understood correctly, I think his point about saying no in some instances was context.

It's easy money and no one is getting decapitated or disemboweled while the music is playing so I guess he is cool with that. Commercials may be a different story though. I have not heard any Journey music in that respect.

There was, I think I remember, a car commercial with 'Anyway You Want It' a couple or so years ago.

We just took our kiddos today to see it, I wondered if someone would mention it here, lol. Of course all 4 of us as well as most of the theater were singing it on the way out while the credits rolled, which was pretty neat actually. Then our 3 1/2 year old also launched into her 2 favorites, AWYWI and WITS, lol.

I love Adam Sandler's movies, this one was pretty funny too. The Wedding Singer is my favorite.

Actually there was a recent Best Buy commercial with AWYWI in it, for that Reward Zone program they have.

Just saw the Wedding Singer again
I love Adam Sandler & he reminds me so much of my late brother Eric.
Will have to catch his new movie.

Steve probably still has his astral blue Mercedes SLC...the first car bought with Journey cash

http://auto.howstuffworks.com/1971-1981 ... nz-slc.htm

Saw a pic with him in a black SUV a few years ago.

He's probably moved into a nice black newer model AMG Mercedes or so I would be if I had the opportunity.

I got a 83 Maganese 500 SEC euro version & I love it even though its getting on in years.
Actually took it at the best MB mechanic in tarzana today as it has a fuel leak as I don't want to chance losing it to some butt smokin cigarette flicker.

Here she is out on a ride to Mulberry's Pizza near Balboa
Thin crust & tangy sauce...
Best in Encino!
For real cooked in a wood oven pizza...you got to come to Studio City...
Mmmmmmmmmmm I do love good pizza!

Yeah it's an awesome song but it starting to become a tad cliche' to use it in the movies! There ARE other anthems.

I think its use in the film Monster was good and in the finale for the Sopranos. However the more it is used, it will start to lose its uniqueness. It has flown up the Itunes charts on previous occasions but not much buzz this time so it may have run its course for the time being.

Yeah....sort of like what Disney does when they retire a movie for a few years.....sometimes we need to do this with music.

"Journey? No. I'm putting the J-boys on moratorium for a few years....it's Flock of Seagulls now."

I remember when Adam Sandler was funny. Those were the days....
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I liked the Wedding Singer. In all his other movies, he sounds like he's chowing down on a bag of dicks.
