I actually had a friend who painted eyes on her boobs, then rolled on canvas paper. She then extended them from the ceiling with elastic string. Then set the "eyes" to bouncing. It was her way of sayin she was tired of guys staring at her chest while she talked. Something most women hate. Heck I hate it when I am working and men talk to them instead of me! LOL!

I understand............ start a thread with that theme if you guys want................ I personally will pass on that one. Now if you want, we can turn this into another Perry Appreciation thread.........LOL!

Or, we can get back to using this thread to wish everyone a Happy New Year, and for personal goals and resolutions..........

I was tickled by Deano's choice of words "Painted Cans". Then I derailed..........

I don't really do resolutions at New Year; more of an ongoing thing for me. But I do have some hopes for 2009:

* that my Mamma will be better at the end of it than she is at the start of it

* that I have another year of loving every second of Uni, with another year of great results (going to see if I can get the High Disitinction:Distinction ratio to shift from 3:1 to 7:1 or better)

* that I can follow on 2008's trend of meeting and making some great new friends

* that I get more opportunities to actually get out and hear some live music, something I have been missing

* that long term travel and study plans work out the way I want them to.

* that this be the first year since I turned 14 that I don't lose someone I love to cancer. Or any other disease or accident.

And I'm looking forward to welcoming nine new people into the world over the next 7 months; it's certainly one way to keep that circle of friends growing :D

Hope you all stay safe and happy people. Finding all of you has definately been a highlight of 2008 for me.
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

My main one is to get back into shape. I really kinda let myself go this past year with various forms of overindulgence and not enough exercise to maintain that important healthy medium, and I am not happy about it.

Friend Kathryn with some of Warhol's painted cans at MoMA in NYC ... this counts, right? :D

As for resolutions/goals ...

Carpe diem x 365 = carpe annum ... work hard, play equally hard; choose happiness, fully participate in life as it comes around, seek new experiences, make new friends, enjoy new music; make sure the people I love know that I do; avoid judgment, Schutt, and drama as much as possible ...

Ari, that was lovely, I don't make promises either, like I said at the start, they are more goals, and wishes. I wish good health for your mom, and peace for you.

Well this one fell off the tracks pretty quick, I see.

Resolutions: I don't do them.

As I told a friend yesterday, I make goals/changes on *my* timetable and when I'm ready, not because some stupid tradition says I should. I figure this - if nothing more than a goofy tradition is motivating me, then I'm not ready to do/not do whatever it is. People fail at these things because they're forcing themselves to make a change they aren't yet ready for. I resolved long ago to stop making resolutions. So far, I've been 100% successful. I also long ago gave up giving up things for lent. <---- Also successful. 8)

Now, as usual, I'm going to rain on the parade. I could just slap every person who shoves a huge pile of junk into their face on December 31st and giggles stupidly and excuses it by saying "Diet starts tomorrow!!!" (and the same with the smokers and drinkers and crackheads, and whatever other vices people resolve to break) Dude, if you want to eat an entire red velvet cake, a pound of almond roca and two pints of Ben & Jerry's, just do it. I don't care. Just spare me the b.s. justification of telling me its ok because you're diet starts in 6 hours. I'm just saying that doing that on December 31st and swearing that on January 1st you're going to start eating lettuce and tree bark is a damn near guarantee that you're gonna be hitting the moon pies by January 6th. Do it when you're ready.

Now, to those who have resolved to do (or not do) something in the new year, more power to you and the best of luck. Please do check in and let us know how it goes. Cheers!!!!

I never did the resolutions thing until December 31st, 2002. I made a list of month-by-month what I had hoped to accomplish, so they weren't really "resolutions" in the traditional sense like "lose weight" "stop smoking", etc. It was "visit a new state", "travel somewhere by plane", "maintain a 3.5 GPA fall semester", "teach myself another language"... that kind of thing. I'll be damned if I didn't lose that piece of paper by February then to find it in November of 2003 and realize I had accomplished 9 out of my 12 goals for the year.

Did that for 2003, 2004, 2005... worked every year. Then after some really life-altering events in late 2005, for 2006 I decided no resolutions. I was just going to live life everyday and try to be happy, work hard, treat others well and the rest would fall into place. And it did. More than a few miracles came my way in 2006. I kept the same idea going in 2007, but added that I would try to grow out of my bubble and experience life at whatever cost. That worked beautifully as I began what would be one of my most shaping relationships on Jan. 2nd, which set into motion a chain of events that eventually led me to having the courage to go after what I wanted and really come into my own. That relationship ended in late summer (and the ghost of that only recently quit haunting me) and my new attitude found me on road trips all over the place meeting new people and really making some amazing memories.

Last New Year's Eve after all the things 2007 brought, I felt a refreshed hope for 2008. So my resolution was to "Make 2008 my bitch." And I'll be damned if I didn't. I accomplished several major goals this year, many things I never knew I had the strength in me to do. It was a difficult year, filled with changes.

I have a superstition that odd numbered years are better than the even ones. And with that I have a lot of things to resolve myself to. All minor things, a fine tuning of mind, body, spirit. 2009 is going to be an amazing year, I can feel it. 8)

Girl, I love ya, but get the burr out of your butt!   LOL! It was resolutions, or goals in my case, I make no promises, just set a few goals to try and reach. And both were optional.
Just think it is fun to think of the new year, and what hopes, asperations, or just well wishes anyone wants to share. No gun to the head, no forced promises. I make no resolutions because I don't care to make promises that I may not be able to keep. Goals on the otherhand, are for me to aspire to, and are optional if they are reached or not. I feel I can only improve myself as a person, if I set goals to try for. I am quite successful with this as well. I say, whatever works for whomever it works for!

By the way, Happy New Year, and may your year hold great things for you! :D

If I pulled the burr out of my butt I would cease to be me. I insist upon being salty.

It was just my take on resolutions, no big deal. I'm not saying don't do them, I'm just saying why I personally do not do them. The rest was just for comedy.

You always keep me laughing!  Note the wink after the "burr up your butt" comment. No one has to feel obligated to add a resolution, or explain why they are not. They can just say Happy New Years!
Best of the new year to you, salty girl! :D
