OT: John Travolta's son passes away

Postby bluejeangirl76 » Sat Jan 03, 2009 7:42 am

Holy hell, can you believe this?

NASSAU (Reuters) - The teenage son of actor John Travolta died suddenly on Friday during a family vacation in the Bahamas, according to the family's lawyer.

Jett Travolta, 16, suffered a seizure at his family's vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay Hotel on Grand Bahama Island, attorney Michael Ossi said.

Attempts were made to revive him, but he died at the scene, Ossi said.

Jett, who had a history of seizures, was the eldest child of Travolta and his wife, actress Kelly Preston. They also have a daughter, Ella Blue, who was born in 2000.

What odds the Scientology Conspiracy theories start up about this?
Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

That's horrible. That's got to be the worst thing in life.

This is truly very sad. You can joke about the man's beliefs, but when anyone loses a child, there can possibly be nothing worse. Tragic.

How very sad. I can imagine far little worse than losing your child. My heart goes out to Mr. Travolta and his family.

I wasn't joking, and I think it sucks that it will in probability happen. Don't like the guy's choice of 'religion' but I can unfortunately see that people will use this child's death to further their anti-Scientology cause, which is both callous and unneccesary. Sorry if read as a joke - I haven't been awake very long.

Ari is right. It probably will happen, unfortunately, because it's been long speculated that his son Jett was autistic and that John wouldn't admit he was due to his Scientology beliefs, and they always said he suffered from Kawasaki syndrome instead. So I'm sure there will be gossip. But what a tragedy. They both seem like wonderful parents who love their children and were always together as a family unit.

Upper level Scientologists believe strongly in reincarnation. They have lost their child, but in their world he will return again in the near future, they just won't know who or where. The finality of his death won't be felt the same way that we. who don't believe in reincarnation or rebirth of the soul would be feeling it.
Of course. it must be a terrible sense of loss to outlive your child.

Maybe intellectually he believes that, but I doubt it will alleviate the horrible emotional pain he and Kelly are suffering right now. Reincarnation or not, there will be a horrible feeling of loss in their family day to day just living without their son. Maybe in time it will give them comfort, just like heaven gives people comfort.

He has given them richness of a life in which to love and in return they have prepared their son for what ever is to come. A parent never wants to outlive their child but I am sure their love has given him more than they can ever imagine. I hope they can overcome their grief and celebrate all he has brought into each of their lives and the lives of those he encountered. Celebrate his life and what he brought into their home and lives; let the tears flow for now; a poignant reminder that he has lived and will remain forever in their hearts.

How many other parents have lost a child today? Their losses are no less tragic, the only difference being some will struggle with unpaid medical bills and burial expenses that will in itself, be a burden. Those are the ones who need our sympathy and support.

No, my excuse for poor wording is that I hadn't been awake very long when I made the initial post. I'm not particularly verbal first thing. In re-reading it, I could see that it was very open to misinterpretation, hence the second post clarifying my thoughts. I don't make jokes about any family's grief.

I got what you were saying, Ari. The media will start spinning things and start people pondering about Scientology and were they hiding something, blah blah blah. That's what they do. They unfortunately will most likely pick this to death. Especially if they feel his parents were hiding that he had a condition that may have led to this.

Mabye you need to make a post that has some actual content and commentary, instead of just general negativity without any actual opinion or thought process. Engage the brain - it may make a refreshing change.
