From what I've read and seen, Jon seems to have an amazing head for the business end, he knows what he's doing. After watching a couple biographies and especially that BTM on Jovi, the similarities with Journey are amazing. Jon's burn out after New Jersey and before Keep The Faith was handled much differently then Journey/Perry's after ROR. They waited for Jon to "find himself" or whatever and finally got back together, fired their management and managed themselves. I think they've lasted so long and still selling out is partially due to it being still original members....and IMO, I don't think Richie has quite the ego Neal does when it comes to just letting the reigns go trusting Jon knew what he was doing. Jon played guitar for Scandal/Patty Smyth? Really? That's something I didn't know. :o

I met Bon Jovi in a Tokyo club in 85 or 86, I can't remember. They were huge over there in Japan and very down to earth. i wonder if they have changed much?

I can't view youtube at work, I'll check it out tonight. Tokyo couldn't get enough of Mr. Big either, they know good music.  Never met any of them, but I've heard Tico is a real sweetheart.

The club was called Bibilo's or something like that and in the Roppongi district, it was the place to meet people and rockers. At different times, I ran across White Snake, Y&T, Ratt, Rainbow, and W.A.S.P. in there. A cool place and all of them were really cool, just chilling and having a good time. The Japanese fawned over them but in a different way than here in the states, like sending drinks to their table and stuff like that.

Speaking of White Snake, did you ever meet Rudy Sarzo? He's always been one of my favorite bassists and from interviews, etc. I've seen....he comes across as kinda shy, yet down to earth, strikes me as a real class act. Looking forward to getting his book "Off The Rails" the story of his Ozzy and Randy Rhodes days.

Neil Murray was still with them then on bass, and Aynsley Dunbar had taken over on drums for Cozy (Aynsley is the craziest rocker I have ever seen in a bar by the way, sort of like I would have envisioned Bon Scott to be).

He does, though there is a guy who makes even Herbie Herbert seem shy and modest. While I enjoy some of U2's songs, I never understood the extreme obsession some people have with them. There are plenty of better musicians and singers out there and Bono's - ahem - lack of modesty - always got on my nerves.

Arnel doesn't have to be worried about being showed up by anyone. He completely wins everybody over from the first song. He is a true superstar. I don't know if he has any writing skills but he will be held back by the constant repeat of the playlist. After all this rambling, My personal choice would be the Goo Goo Dolls. They was never really a headliner but still brings down the house. They have a worthy choice of songs and would also appeal to the same "Journey" crowd and more. To me that tour would be sweet.

Are you on Meth?

Dude, Journey will never not play it safe. That's just who they are. BA if he plays with them, which I say no he won't, will play his rockers, which are better than Journey's. Arnel, who is awesome, is NOT a superstar. You have got to be kidding me. He isn't close. Can he be? Sure. He has great chops and am even better attitude. But BA is so much more talented, seasoned and just better, that Journey might want to rethink this.

BTW, I have told Dan his sources are full of shit on this. BA won't do this. He only tours 1-12 days a month. He is a professional photogapher and a writer now, so he spaces out his workload.

Mind you T-Time, I am NOT a Journey hater. I love Arnel, despise Neal and Friga, but don't exist here to bash, but to tell it like it is. You put Journey up against a rocked out Adams, Journey gets eaten alive, period.

Dean you are so wrong no matter how strongly you state it. We can agree to disagree about which rockers are better. I'm not getting into that but you can't compare B A - more of a solo artist to Arnel - a frontman. Arnel is a superstar, he just isn't popularized yet but he is a superstar. I can't imagine W H I C H songs from B A you are referring to as such "Rock" classics besides maybe "69". Other than that his best days was when Kevin Costner was wearing tights in "Robin Hood". I don't know if you caught any shows after Vegas but I hope that wasn't your last impression of this line up. This line up will in no way be shown up by anyone. Especially B A . Maybe with Augeri. Not now. They WILL NOT take this step back with BA. NO WAY. If they do then career over. Forget any new albums unless he replaces a Cheap Trick as the front of a 3 card ticket. He is now a photographer because people would rather see his photos than his shows. And I never have taken a illegal drug in my life. Congrats on the super bowl halftime show. Thats Playing It Safe.

Ditto. I've read a few interview where he talks about not wanting to go that route, and how much it can damage the voice. I'd be interested to read where he talks about using steroids.

Well, specifically, he talked about it in GQ and this is what he said:

"Well, how do you do that and use it at the same time? It’s a very fine line. Like I said, using it can cause the problem. Using your fingers makes ‘em better. So it’s always a fine, artful dance. So at the end of a night, you feel great. I delivered what I wanted to do, I hit the notes, I feel good about it—but you don’t know how much you used up until tomorrow morning. And the tickets have already been sold. The next show is sold out. Only one night did I have to have a shot of B12 with an anti-inflammatory. That was in Dallas, Texas, because I got to a sound check and realized that people were lined up outside and I had half a voice. So that night we got a doctor to give me a shot. Which singers will do a lot—but I only had to do it once."

Yeah, except they WERE the headliner. Colbie Caillat and Lifehouse (a current singer/group) actually opened for them. Theh GGD music fit in really well with Lifehouse.
