Sweet and Simple.. Hear why he will never be replaced.

Got some tools to increase vocal levels in songs and remove effects. The backing music sounds weird but the vox are right in your face with no effects. As close as you will get to hearing him all alone.. More to come.. And dont download unless you own it as most of us on here should or be shot.

SHes mine to come for comparison to early and deeper voiced perry.

Hey LD, what did you use to do this? Really interesting to listen to. Makes the music sound like "Tron" outtakes.
;)
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

"Sweet and Simple" was better when it was redone on TBF as "Easy to Fall".

:) This is so cool..."Somethin' to Hide" is one of my faves.
And, SusieP does have a lovely voice...Susie, you need to add "Sorry" to your myspace - I still remember how pretty it sounded.

Thanks for all the confidence boosting comments, everyone. Helps enormously.

Listening to the beauty of Steve's raw voice and how fabulous it sounds with no effects on it whatsoever, it emphasises how crap voices like Britney Spears and Madonna [and many many more] must sound without Pro-Tools and studio magis tricks, doesn't it.

It also reinforces how right we all are to LOVE That man's voice.

Thanks for doing that, LD...it's interesting to hear the comparison...amazing vocals in the beginning and thats what stands out the most and I love the sound but I actually prefer the lower voice later..his voice lowered but it became more sensual....he projected more of his soul with life experience and maturity. 8)

I borrowed an unused copy of Adobe Audition 3.0 from a friend and used the center channel extractor. It took some tweaking to get best results. Every song on each album could use the same settings to get his voice out front but switch from Escape to Evolution means you have to re-tweak the settings as each album is mixed differently. I tried ROR, Frontiers and TBF and the results were not very good. I could not get his voice out front without it sounding swirly like the backing music.. The backing music sounds like that because a filter is switching in real time to try to extract just the right frequencies to get the male voice out from the mix.. For some reason Frontiers, ROR and TBF doesnt fare well but then again I barley know what I am doing so I may try again. I dont own FTLOSM so thats why no tracks from there. I imagine from hearing it that it was mixed in a very similar fashion to TBF. The records with the most reverb on his voice are the biggest problems to extract..

Madonna sounded great in Evita but absolutely terrible on almost everything else before and after.

I can't tell what song it is Susie, 'cuz the thing says it is either expired or too many downloads. The song I was referring to was Tracy Chapman's "Sorry" - is that what it is? I have TC's CD with this song on it, but when I heard your version I actually liked yours better.
