OT: KIP WINGER coming to my hometown!!

Postby ProgRocker53 » Wed Jan 14, 2009 6:10 am

I know many of you will be like, wtf Prog, but I just found out that Kip Winger's coming to my hometown, and will be playing literally down the street from me in February!!

I'm pumped, it's a really small venue so I hope I get a chance to meet him. Kip's one of my rock idols.

Will he be playing mainly solo material, Winger material, or a mixture thereof?

Want some advice on how to keep your new girlfriend?

Don't take her to see Kip fucking Winger. My God Prog, she'll think you are gay. Winger? Dude, Winger? I am laughing hysterically that anyone would even mention they are going to see this fruity fucker let alone say "Winger" aloud.

Think this over Proggy. Not a kosh move. I will say Kippy does at least have white teeth. Wonder if that fucker uses Crest White Strips or has em done professionally.

There are some things guys should just never do. This is one of them. Dude you see Kip Winger, I will haunt you every day on MR  I will relentlessly, endlessly, tease the living shit out of you.

um. winger. wow. um.... yeah.

Love ya Prog, but you're shaking my faith in the younger generation right here.

;)
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

LOL, although it won't matter. Unless she has the hearing of a 84 yr old jet engine mechanic, there's no way she is leaving that shit show with prog. She will be on a taxi out of there before Prog can buy his first Winger T Shirt at the concession stand.

Listen to this song and call Winger gay with a straight face. I DARE you.

Also.. my girl's EIGHTEEN, thanks.. and she likes Winger. This was BEFORE I got ahold of her, too!

I personally think Winger's one of the best melodic rock bands out there, but meh.. can't please 'em all, can we Kippers?

You call yourself a Winger fan, but you didn't get my Seventeen joke/reference?

BTW, Winger has TWO good songs: Time to Surrender, and Spell I'm Under. The latter being one of my all-time songs period.

I got it, I forgot to put my giggling smiley in. Damn. Yeah, those are two AWESOME songs, probably in my top ten Winger tunes.. sadly, that's not saying much considering they only have like 50 songs out there...

I will say that most people got caught up in the Mike Judge and Metallica hatred of Winger. This is unfortunate as these guys can play the hell out of their instruments and Kip is an awesome songwriter.

I can totally accept if you are just not into the band, but buying into someone else’s hatred is ridiculous. I still believe that Mike Judge is just making fun of them because it’s funny, not personal attack or a judgment on their music. I’m a fan, and it makes me laugh. Remember they were making fun of Stewart through Beavis and Butthead’s eyes. These are not two guys I would model my tastes after. Funny as hell though.

The ‘Pull’ record is a melodic rock masterpiece and they deliver the goods live. Kip’s solo shows are great because you get to hear the songs organically and hear Kip’s voice dig in. He also plays stuff off of his solo records which are mellower, but still good.

Yes Kip is a good looking dude who struts on stage, but if you hate him for that the just about every charismatic rock dude deserves your hatred as well.

I do concede that the Playgirl spread was a huge mistake. Strutting on stage is one thing, but baring a banana hammock in a magazine is quite another.

I love Winger and Kip’s music and if that makes me gay then my girl is going to be crushed.

Enjoy the show Prog! Just got tickets to the Yes??? show in Phoenix. Not sure what to call it, but I am pumped to hear the Drama stuff.

KIP WINGER!!! Have fun, dude, and get me an autograph!

I just ran across this excellent Winger quote yesterday where he slams Joe Elliott:

C.C. Banana: Do you have any other topics you'd care to address, Kip?

Kip Winger: Yeah, I just want to say that I read what Joe Elliott [DEF LEPPARD] said, slagging off bands like POISON and WINGER. I've gotten used to being the punching bag, I take it all! But POISON is really good live and Bret Michaels' own response to Joe was awesome. I also love DEF LEPPARD and I think they're a great band. But if Joe Elliott wants to meet me at an L.A. club of his choice with an acoustic guitar, leave the Pro Tools at home and I'll open up a can of whoop-ass on him!

Good for him. Tito and I saw Kip at Jim Peterik's World Stage and he brought the house down. His solo shit is rocking. Of course he also played Seventeen and Headed For A Heartbreak. Those songs are ok.

Nothing wrong with Winger or it's members. Reb is a master guitarist and Kip has great songwriting ability.

They didn't deserve the ridicule but I don't think anyone cares anymore. They are without a doubt one of the best in the genre of "hair metal".

I'm with you Prog... Winger's an awesome melodic rock band. Kip's one of the most talented dudes in the industry, and one of the few who can sit down, pick up an acoustic guitar and rock the hell out! He has so much personality in his songwriting that it's scary. Yeah...I don't care for "Seventeen", but he's written some of the coolest songs I've heard. Have fun!

i like leppard but i think poison will blow them off the stage.

leppard has more respect from the media and critics than poison but i think in a live setting poison will have a more energetic show.

Are you ever correct. Def Lippard, are a bunch of "comforted Euros"...however, Poison, as bad as they are, could light up Def Lipard on any day. Hey Joe, take the challenge you fag!

I saw Poison a few months ago and they had a very energetic show! Based on Leppard when I saw them two years ago-you are correct, Poision would blow them off the stage.
