Exactly. Maybe it's all part of the plan. Sometimes 'leaks' can be very productive.
Besides everyone out here getting all wadded-up over this is really cool...fun. I honestly can't see how it really matters much anyway. The fans have learned to not expect much.

You gotta love Russ Miller

While on his holiday break, Russ Miller is recording with legendary rock icon Steve Perry for the singer's first album in eighteen years. "Being a big fan of Journey and Steve's solo material," says Russ, "it has been a real joy, and I'm very excited about this record." You can also hear Miller on the soundtrack of Heath Ledger's last movie, The Imaginarium Of Dr. Parnassus, featuring Johnny Depp and Colin Farrell and due out this spring.

Russ Miller and Randy Jackson are lying. It's quite obvious. I'm sure they're being paid by "someone" to lie, as I am.

Nothing we say really matters. I just want to know one thing: If a new SP release comes out by November, just tell me individually, what will you have to say?
Just tell me.

If it doesn't, I'll say that I'm sorry that what I was told was inaccurate and that I'm sorry that I got many people's hopes up and that we can always hope for next year.

But tell me, what will YOU say if it does happen?

I just really want to know, because I'm writing it down.

I'm crazy, I'm a liar, I'm a paid person to "leak" info and I'm an old former troll from magical decades gone by on this forum.

Or I'm just a guy, who has some inside info and much personal interest in seeing the greatest living rock singer give new music to his fans, and being someone who'll lay down odds that it's coming soon.

Either way, I can live with whatever you think about me. If I'm wrong, I'll remain on the forum and be a laughed at, forgotten about punch line. But if I'm right, we'll all be better off and happier that we've got new music from someone who we all desire it from.

I'll be alright either way. Thanks for reading my posts and letting me contribute here. It's much appreciated and not taken lightly or for granted.

Well again, you've got to understand why this board is so skeptical. The people of this message board and others, have had their hopes built up and dashed so many times it's hard to believe anything anymore. None of it is Perry's fault, either. People get an idea that because he's working with someone in a studio, that he's making a record of new music. Every time that's turned out to be false.

If it happens, I'll be as happy as the next person. It's been a long time coming.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.

stop! this doesn't look good on you and you're sounding like Jerry Maquire after he wrote his manifesto and got fired. you might have a few supporters but it took Jerry an entire two hours and Cuba Gooding Jr. and an entire movie before he (Jerry) got resurrected.

I believe it is happening, too...all the songwriters, musicians (Russ Miller), Randy Jackson (SP's friend), etc. put it out there in their words. I don't believe any of them would be saying ANYTHING at all if it weren't happening. Madsplash just adds some little info to it, that may or may not be true...but really the professionals have said it.

I'm believing it as well. I don't see him sinking money/time into hiring someone to work the drums on the tracks without some game plan on the burner. Is it November? That date can/could change with the wind, however, it seems to make some semblance of sense based upon what I've heard. But everyone can admit, this is one helluva lot closer than we've had to a real CD in forevah! Bring it.

I would personally think, no tour, but then again, who knows? I can see a Perry release completely burying the last Journey release. SP is so much more in desire than Journey.

Especially with a drummer so in demand. Yeah, it's a lot more than we've had "in forevah". Deb's "threesome" may be realized after all! :)

I have been on this forum only a short while and only recently rediscovered Journey and
Steve Perry's music, so I have not suffered through years of dashed hopes. Perhaps for that
reason I am less skeptical than many on this board who have faithfully followed the band and SP
for years, waiting to hear Steve sing again only to be let down by rumours and speculation.

That said, I tend to believe that Madsplash is on to something. While no one can bank on unnamed
sources and third party knowledge, there are so many other tiny pieces of information out there that
when put together, support the probability that Steve Perry is working on putting out a new CD and the
only question seems to be 'when' and not 'if' - and the when may be 2009.

Andrew has had it confirmed that SP is working on new material, but there is no set plan for it
or confirmation of its release. So we do know in fact that he is working on something. If it were for anything
other than himself, for example a record label or movie production, I don't think it could be or would be kept
under wraps. So it is his own music for his own purpose. He can choose to release it in any manner that
suits him, but it could be he will present the finished product to a label which gives him freedom from interference
from label executives while he works and complete control of artistic content and information until he is satisfied
that his work is ready to be heard.

A couple of songwriters (whose names I can't remember, but they've been mentioned in some of these threads)
have talked about writing songs with SP and it's all been within the past year or two. Now the Russ Miller debate.
And no one has challenged that Russ Miller is a world class drummer and to hire him to tinker on some demos
for the hell of it does not seem logical. Granted, Steve Perry is wealthy and a perfectionist, but would you
bring in one of the best studio drummers in the world unless you were serious?

There seem to be too many little comments suddenly or "mistakenly" being put out there by people working
with SP or friends of his (like Randy Jackson) and it is likely by design. He controls every aspect of what he
does and seems meticulous in detail - just consider the contracts that Journey members had to sign to do
the VH1 BTM Special and his editorial control. I doubt any of his friends or anyone who works for him are
unaware of what information is for public knowledge and what is not. These "leaks" and the resultant internet
buzz are an excellent means of gauging interest and building excitement at the same time. Seems pretty
brilliant to me.

There are some other considerations for why this year may be of significance in releasing a new CD. I may be
mistaken, but isn't this the first year Steve Perry is eligible for the RnR Hall of Fame as a solo artist? The past
year has seen a huge resurgence in interest in Journey and SP, spurred on by DSB featured in the 'Sopranos'
season finale and SP has commented on how it feels to see today's generation embrace music he did so long
ago. Perhaps that demonstrates that they are ready for more.

There is also the notoriety of Journey hiring Arnel - the first new singer to have gained the attention of the
general public thanks to Ellen Degeneres and YouTube and the Revelation CD with the rerecords of the classics.
I can only speculate, but if I were him I would have considered the rerecords by Journey to be a slap in the face
and a challenge. If he releases a new CD this fall it will be in time, I believe, for Journey's US tour which, due to
his connection to the band, can only help to promote his CD while they'll have nothing new. In effect, they
will be out there working for him again. He is also turning 60 this year, which is of major significance to most,
and facing such a milestone tends to mobilize people to finish things before it is too late.

There could be any number of reasons why he is making new music - my hope is that he is simply inspired
and in a place in his life where he feels ready to share his voice and feel the magic again.

By the way, this post is a novel - sorry about that, but there was a lot to say.

Seriously? How old are you? Cause you act like a 15 old who just found out he was making Captain of his school's Safety Patrol or something.

No, I'll turn the big 40 in March, thanks. I'm just an excited fan. I was actually the captain of my grade school patrol team!

I'm just a guy who loves SP and Journey. I'll continue to post what I'm told in a respectful, happy, non-threatening, non-personal attacking way. I have some people telling me to shut up about it and many telling me thank you for the info, and are happy to have it. I'm OK with both. Time will tell one way or another. I think we all hope it will. It's just a wait & see now.

I'm not trying to stir up anyone or anything. Just posting what I'm told. Everyone can make up their own mind about whether or not they want to believe it.

One thing that bothers me is that some people say I don't post on any other threads other than SP having new music. If you search my posts, you'll find that's not true. I've posted on other topics, granted most are about SP, which is why I'm here. But I don't have time in my day to post on hundreds of topics like some here do. I can't imagine having the time to have 5 or 6 thousand posts. I wish I did.

Anyway, I do read and post on other topics. As much as some? No. But as much as I have time for. When I do have time to read and post on this wonderful forum, I try to keep it focused on my preferred topics. That's not really so crazy, is it?

He just told everyone he is a fan. We will see on Nov 9th of o9.I believe Andrew to but just what if it is true??????? If he dose come out with a new cd i believe it will be his last one.He will be 60 on 01/22/09 this year.If he dose tour i don't think it will be a long one but a small tour.

First of all something probably IS gonna happen. Journey hit one over the centre field fence in 2008. Were in the bottom of the inning and Perrys up to bat, and really ought to respond in some other way than laying down a bunt single down the third base line. So Im sure he is , and as a Perry fan, I hope he crushes the fuckin ball over the top of the upper deck, (and if Neals pickup truck is in the parking lot, I hope it breaks the windshield).

As to what we will say to you if you are right - its gonna be : "oh what a great perry release, love steve perry, on and on and on. Half of us wont care and will have forgotten who you are and the other half of us also wont care either but still will find you irritating (although we still will have nothing personally against you) . Perry wont care who you are and what you knew. And if for some reason he was using you, to put a message out, it will be yeah nice work, leave me alone now, Im done with you and spittin you out with my last wad of Big Red chewing gum.

You'll be a friggin nobody like the rest of us,restlessly drifting, looking for your ten minutes of fame.

If it happens - great. Everybody will think so, including those who don't tend to believe posts like these.
If it doesn't happen, it's business as usual.
Why do we have to SAY anything? This post is one of a thousand just like it that've been posted for years. Tough to believe the 'comeback rumors' after a while.
Maybe the naysayers or wrong. So what?? Big deal, so they would be wrong. Just like all those other posts that came before saying he was doing something in years past. Who cares?

One thing I probably will say if something does come out:
"Damn, why so many ballads????"

He better get it out before December 21, 2012. According to the History Channel, that's our last day ;)
It's Armageddon Week...
