So far ... so good

That's what Annie is saying, the girls have not been in to extinguish the thread/rumour of new material coming out. In the past they have come and waylaid any rumours, but this time they are not, soooooooooo maybe there is some truth.....but they cannot confirm for the reasons stated by rick or BJG.

Maybe it's just not worth the effort for them to police this site anymore. As soon as they dispel one rumor, another will pop up soon enough.

B-I-N-G-O:!:

Now people are interpreting my silence as confirmation of something? Not.

Thats it Lora your fired!......... NOT! (We couldn't pay you enough to put up with us!) LOL! I think instead of "interpreting what Lora or Cyndy think or feel, just let them share it when they want to. Don't read into anything that isn't there.

I would be the first to welcome any new work by Steve. But when it happens, it will be in his sweet time, when he is ready, believe me I am sure he would want us excited about any new album. But why rush him and get something less than great? I have waited this long, and I have plenty of time, no problem. 8)

Anyone besides me worried that if he does come out with new music it will flop? Don't get me wrong, Im not worried about his voice, but his writing skills on solo material, to me have been for the most part underwhelming.

I noticed on FTLOSM, Lincoln Brewster was on a lot of the writing credits along with Lucas and Taylor. This time since he has been writing with a lot of different people maybe he will get the right person to gel with and we will get something closer to Street Talk or Journey.

Less introspective would be good, I dont need rockers, but more positive and uplifting would be nice. On FTLOSM and TBF he seemed to get into a dark side.

Hello everyone. I'm a new poster on this site, however, I must admit I've been lurking for quite some time.

I have to agree with Since 78 on SP's songwriting skills. Say what you will about Jonathan Cain, but his influence as a songwriter/lyricist is conspicuous by its absence in SP's solo work. I know we've all heard he's been writing with a virtual who's who of the music industry, but, at the end of the day, they are just hired help. I get the sense that by the time he finishes massaging these things to death, and getting the songs just the way he likes them, they tend to be a little on the melancholy side. I offer FTLOSM as Exhibit A.

I think it all centers on his frame of mind. He wrote
'Don't Fight It" by himself, which garnered a Grammy nod for him and Kenny Loggins. That song was pure pop with an uplifting kind of vibe. Hopefully he has exorcised all the inner Demons that were weighing him down emotionally and can find something truly uplifting to present as his gift to the fans.

Well, if he has exorcised all those inner demons, and he's feeling in a giving mood, I'd like the gift of something smooth and sexy with a funky bass line (ala "Once You Love Somebody"). Maybe throw in some sweet nothings whispered in Portuguese...

....you just mentioned my "Latter-Day Favorite" Journey song.

and MY GOD ~ I could listen to Portuguese all day....I used to know a fellow Musician (Guitarist) who had the deep, mellow voice of a DJ....spoke fluent Portuguese, since his Mom was from there.....

DANG!

Since 78 and Jubilee, great posts. When those on here say Journey hasn't written a great song since Perry left the equation, I counter back with Perry hasn't written the calibur of songs he did with Neal and Jon, also Gregg. FTLOSM sends me into a depession by the end. Way too melancholy and drags midway through. I'm not worried about his voice either. I loved his vocals on TBF, even though there definitely was a difference from earlier years. He still sounded great, very soulful.

Hey, I have an idea. :P Maybe he can HIRE Jon and Neal to write a few songs with him.
