I spoke to Jimi Jamison, Jim Peterik and David Pack last night after Jim Peterik's World Stage show. Very interesting comments from David Pack. :) Man, that fucker can sing. He was the MVP of the night with Jamison coming in a very close second. Jamison had an off night last year, but he certainly brought his "A" game last night. Rik Emmett probably came in 3rd. Don Barnes belted out all of the .38 Special songs and sounded great as well. Peterik had a great lineup again.

Is David Pack returning the favour to SP?

We had an audition for a new Agent last week and he has agreed to take us on his books.
Hope he finds us some gigs soon because after the end of January our diary is looking decidely bleak. About as bleak as the weather Nora is experiencing.

Things will get better.

This snippet is taken from the entertainment column in a 1984 edition of the Hastings Tribune. Street Talk had been recently released.

He's (Steve) a California native whose father was a singer during the big band era. "I got to see him when I was young. It might have given some subliminal imprint there," Perry said.
"We talked about one time doing a duet. We didn't do it. I don't see much of him, really."

How sweet would it be if Steve could do a duet with his dad via vintage footage if there is any from when his dad used to sing ... kinda like Nat King Cole and his daughter ... (What can I say, I'm a sentimental girl  )

Celine would be a great pic, as would Ann Wilson. And I gotta say, while I'd love for Perry to do something different, the big ballad with a female would be the most radio worthy and his biggest chance at charting.

I just saw Celine Dion last week in concert and I have to say, I went in a little skeptical, I'd seen her lipsyncing a couple of times on "live" TV performances, but that woman is THE MOST consistent vocalist I've ever heard live. No lip syncing that night, but there was a duet with Andrea Bocceli where his vocals and video was precorded, and Celine sang live. On the screens in the arena, she and Andrea were standing side by side, and it was AMAZING. She sang for an hour and a half and never once missed a note.

I'm re-fanned. If you get the chance, go see that show.

She did "It's a Man's World" and rocked the fuckin' house with it.

Now, I'm not gonna say any names yet, because I don't have it as 100% FACT and I wouldn't want to be said to be being arrogantly throwing out names  , but if you could pick one person that you'd like to hear him sing a duet with, who would it be?

Yoko Ono and William Hung

BTW DS, when you first started all of this "insider info" leaky, leaky crap, you also said SP had work done on his vocal cords and that he was working on this project with someone with the initials H.H. Whatever happened to that solid info and why don't you ever give us any follow up on it? :?

First of all, nice picture of the bitter, jealous and cynical man who ENDED Journey as we all loved it. And we will see about Steve's voice, won't we?
The H.H thing was said by someone who's had inside knowledge of their contact and was never said to be fact, but that contact was made.

I still love the "keyboard muscle" tough talk of some people here. It's very amusing.

How in the world did Herbie end Journey? That makes no sense at all. First of all, Journey is alive and well. Secondly, they were defunct for awhile only because Perry was "toast"

If it weren't for him telling Neal and Jon to "move on", even though they agreed to fire his ass at SP's request, they would have probably kept their senses and waited on Steve's health to be better and they would have completed one of the greatest comeback's ever. The album was already sitting at #3 and a tour would have followed. That's how.

The stone was fractured and HH had a huge hand in helping it crack.

And Journey is alive and well to a degree. The magical era of Journey is gone and will probably never come back thanks to Neil, Jon and HH's impatience.

Keep bringing in a singer for this album, a singer for this album, etc...... It was only ever magic one way and that's gone now, thanks to jealousness and greed.

Interesting perspective. I do wonder if Neal would have been more patient and willing to wait for Steve
to have surgery if it weren't for Herbie insisting that he had no intention of touring anyway.

Neal and Jon were losing their window to tour. They've talked about it. And it just wasn't that. He stopped with Journey after ROR. He didn't keep in contact with them and starts working on Against the Wall, which wasn't a go, and then did nothing for years. And what was his next project? FTLOSM, a solo project. He toured but cancelled part of it. And because of it appears of pushing by the label and his hearing they we're working with Chalfant and Rolie, he jumped back in with Journey for TBF. In an interview publicizing TBF, they were asked if they were touring. It seems like Steve said it was a possiblity or talking about it (can't remember the exact quote), not, yes, absolutely. Then it's agreed they are touring. Hip problem. Drags it on. So they move on. And, look, all these years, nothing from him until possibly now. How could anyone blame Neal and Jon for moving on? To me, after ROR he wanted a solo career.

I'm not sure about losing their window to tour, because that was based on promoting TBF and I don't think
they did that once they hit the road with SA. But I do think they believed Steve Perry wasn't committed to
touring based on refusing to tour in 84 and 85 when they were at the height of their popularity, pulling out
halfway through the ROR tour, coming back with a solo project after 7 years instead of Journey, and then
not willing to commit to a timeline for a TBF tour. I'm a Perry fan, but the reality is that he had a history
when it came to touring.

I don't know if it was so much about a solo career, though I do remember from the VH1 BTM special that
he was considering going solo pre-ROR and his mother talked him into going back to Journey. Hmmm....

I understand why SP needed to pull out during ROR and he did what was right for his life and wellbeing.
But at a certain point Neal had to decide whether to move forward or walk away from a band that he built and
put 25 years of his life into and I think he had the right to take it forward. I just wish they had moved in a
different direction at that point, away from a soundalike, and kept the Perry-era legacy intact. That's easy for
me to say though and it's an old argument.

I wonder who they could have gotten in 98 that could sing some classics in concert, but bring a new vocal
sound and significantly add to the songwriting? Someone they would have been aware of at the time?
