Heart Kicked Journey's A**

Postby roycap » Tue Jan 20, 2009 5:03 am

Objectively, one has to admit that Heart kicked Journey's A** last summer. They were clearly the better band and created the biggest buzz of the evening. Ann Wilson showed Arnel what a real singer sounds like. One has to think Journey was even suprised they had to follow that act. Don't get me wrong Journey was good, but not in the same league as Heart.

Great trio of bands (Cheap Trick, Heart and Journey) will be tough to equal this summer.

He stated his opinion in which he is entitled too. To compare Ann and Arnel... Cmon man.. Ann is a legend. Arnel is not BUT he is a great singer.. They both have their thing but its apples and oranges.

How about why you feel this way in more detail. Is it possible to have an adult debate about it without people jumping to the defensive right off the bat ?

This reincarnation of Journey is not the great band of the 70's and 80's. This is a cover band that keeps the music alive. Hey, I am glad they do, but they were out of their league as a headliner last summer. If Deano disagrees, then I know it must be fact.

True. Each band put on a good performance in their own right... does it really matter who was "better" this summer? They've each got their own thing going on. I mean unless one particular singer or band flat out sucked and people were walking out left right and center (which was not the case from my angle), what's the point of pitting them against each other in this manner?

I agree, LD....

Ann is legend, with her legendary voice intact!!!
Heart was 80's amazing, she brought tears to
my eyes!! Journey was awesome as well....it's all a matter
of opinion and taste.....

No, but he's not being very realistic to expect anyone to agree with him when he posts his incorrect opinion in a Journey forum. If he went to a Heart forum, people would be lavishing him with praise, I'm sure. I don't even think he believes what he posted. He's just trolling, trying to get some fur to fly.

Hey LD, relax. The OP is just trying to ruffle feathers, and that's cool, but...my argument was that he said Heart is a better band than Journey. As much hatred as I have for team Journey, at least I am honest. Journey are not some bar band playing Steppenwolf again and again. They are talented, albeit douchebags, all of them, but they play Heart inside and out and drop kick their asses off the Golden Gate bridge for laughs. As for Arnel v Ann Wilson? That's just stupid to bring up. One guy is a humble respecting rookie and the other is an obese operatic voice goddess singer. Both are extremely talented. I wasn't even going there, as the OP wants to bait. Well, I am off today so I will gladly take the bait; take the bait and shove it right back up his ass.

You contradict yourself right here. You called Journey a cover band. Heart covered two other artists the night I saw them, Journey zero.

Ann is my favorite female vocalist and one of the greatest voices of all time. Arnel is a terrific talent and does a great job on the Journey catalog.

There's no reason to continue to try and aggravate Arnel's fans.

Heart is Roger Fisher, Michael Derosier, Steve Fossen, Ann and Nancy Wilson.

In the Late 80s and 90s it was Howard Leese, Denny Carmassi, Mark Andes, Ann and Nancy Wilson.

I prefer the latter myself because that is how I got into Heart and they generally ignore all those hits they had. I saw them on the Brigade and Desire Walks On tour and that is when they were at their finest for me. I still love em and go see them at every opportunity. Ann Wilson is my favorite singer. She just slays those songs.

That being said, Journey was the headliner for a reason. They are a legacy band that sells tickets everywhere they go. They deliver the goods everywhere they go. If you liked Heart better then fine, but this opinion. I saw the Vegas show and all of the bands were great. I got into Cheap Trick more than anyone else that night. They were on fire.

Not sure what your point is, but the statement is correct. Journey is Pineda, Cain, Schon, Valory & Castronovo. Every member is critical. That's what a band is. Ann & Nancy could pitch the rest of the band and replace them with others and nobody would care.

I don't think any band kicked the other's butt. I liked them all for different reasons. Cheap Trick is a great opener. They're a bit punk, a bit melodic and a bit hard rock all rolled into one. And hearing The Flame live is a real treat. Zander still hits it out of the park. Heart is all about Ann. It's about the world's foremost female vocalist. One of the greats of all-time. Nancy is easy on the eyes and plays some killer guitar. Journey is a combination of melodies, memories, sing along songs and some kick ass new music. This was quite a bill and all 3 acts are to be commended on a job well done.
