Not sure what your point is, but the statement is correct. Journey is Pineda, Cain, Schon, Valory & Castronovo. Every member is critical. That's what a band is. Ann & Nancy could pitch the rest of the band and replace them with others and nobody would care.

Hmmmm....In the 70s - when they were both fucking every guy in the band - it mattered.

I loved both bands but Journey clearly did a better set, maybe Arnel had a bad night when you saw them. I clearly don't understand why you come to a Journey forum and expect alot of people to agree with you on this statement. I love Ann Wilson's voice, but journey clearly kicked their butt the night I saw them. :D
I don't think any band kicked the other's butt. I liked them all for different reasons. Cheap Trick is a great opener. They're a bit punk, a bit melodic and a bit hard rock all rolled into one. And hearing The Flame live is a real treat. Zander still hits it out of the park. Heart is all about Ann. It's about the world's foremost female vocalist. One of the greats of all-time. Nancy is easy on the eyes and plays some killer guitar. Journey is a combination of melodies, memories, sing along songs and some kick ass new music. This was quite a bill and all 3 acts are to be commended on a job well done.

WOW...for the second time, ever.....awesome!!

Heart kicked ass, but not Journey's. They both kicked IMO. REO & Styx kicked Journey's ass back in 2003. But Heart in 2008? No.

For the casual Heart fan, outside the Wilson sisters, the musicians are ALL interchangeable. They have some talent but lack character (ok other than the hottie schoolgirl keyboardist). All the members of Journey bring their craft to the game. Many casual fans would argue the same is probably true with them, but I would disagree.

The 2008 lineup was the best so far. My problem is ... by the time I get through the first two bands...I may have had a few too many and start my downhill slide. I think I'm getting old.

Pat Benatar is doing her 30th anniversary tour this year. I saw her in August with Scandal and Berlin opening for her. If she could get Heart to co-headline with her this upcoming tour, it would be one of the best shows of the summer IMO.

Personally i like both bands..but i do consider that Journey is much better band than Heart (in sound, song composition and all), altough Heart have one of the best female vocalist from all times (i include next to her miss Benatar and a few others).

Now about live performace, i only saw Journey live here; i know that Heart play in Viña del Mar festival (94), and for what i see it was good but not their best performance.

Heat Viña del Mar (Barracuda,1994) great song :)

Great trio of bands (Cheap Trick, Heart and Journey) will be tough to equal this summer.

Lets put it this way...Heart plays in front of small crowds without Journey...Journey will play in front of large crowds without Heart.

Don't agree with this. Journey...by themselves...couldn't sell out a very small venue (a few thousand capacity I believe) in Kansas City this past tour. Journey needs support to fill the arenas and larger venues.

Heart has released one album in 15 years and still draws crowds albeit at small venues. If Journey goes solo this tour we'll be able to see what kind of venues they play and judge accordingly. Going by what is being said here in this thread, an opening act shouldn't be necessary.

I disagree somewhat with this statement, because Heart has had (I believe anyway) several long breaks between touring schedules. Any time you take a band away from the public for a few years, you're going to have a much more successful tour. We all want to hear what we miss. Journey has never went away since Augeri, and they've played so many damn tours and venues that honestly...I've become tired of seeing them. They'll have to put out a new album at this point to get me interested.

Heart still retains the main draw of the band which is Anne and Nancy of course, AND they're the original singers. I'm telling you...if Journey had a 3 or 4 year break and THEN came out with an album like Revalation, I think they would have some great ticket sales. JMHO.

Heart has toured 6 times out of the last 10 years, sometimes as a duo and sometimes as a group. They have toured from the end of 2006, 2007 and 2008. If anything, excessive touring has hurt them as I saw them at the California state fair a few years ago.

Heart has toured 6 times out of the last 10 years, sometimes as a duo and sometimes as a group. They have toured from the end of 2006, 2007 and 2008. If anything, excessive touring has hurt them as I saw them at the California state fair a few years ago.

Well I know they've always played, but haven't they toured under other names than Heart? I could be wrong here, but I'm pretty sure they haven't been out there for 10 years as Heart. Again...could be wrong! Journey's been out there every freaking year (unless you discount the "Under the Radar" tour) since Augeri joined. Just saying I think they'd do better tour-wise than Heart. Especially if they took a break.

In the 70's they were both hot as a firecracker too.

hey rick, what happened to mr clint?
and who is that guy in your av now?

Clint needed a nap. ;) That's Steven Wright, a comedian.

what a relief...i was about to laugh at your av when MG told me it was you.
 i can see her laughing now.

She cracks me up. I met her at the Dallas Journey show. Very nice lady.

Rick in your defense, I knew who your AV was, seems you like a lot of comedians I like. Wright cracks me up, you have to pay attention to his jokes, they aren't for stupid people. He is very smart!

I don't know how he comes up with some of that stuff. You're right, he's gotta be very smart.
I like to sit out on the front porch, where the birds can see me, eating a plate of scrambled eggs, just so they know what I'm capable of.
