At that exact moment he became the king of pop. Didn't matter if you liked pop, rock or jazz. You just had to stop and go WOW!

I remember watching the show and being in awe, too. The Jackson Five/MJ music was part of my childhood (used to watch the Sat. morning cartoon as well, but then they basically disappeared until this show came on in the early 80s...and, it was really a powerful performance. Everybody was like, "what the heck was that thing he just did walking backwards!".

you have to stop and think if he would've kept his business straight, his nose clean, kept his affairs in order and never messed around with younger kids how damn insanely popular he would still be now especially since all the acts from back then like original van halen, police, etc. broke up around then and recently broke the bank getting back together for one more go round.thriller was the best selling album of all time released around twenty five years ago and he could've gotten a bunch of guest stars that are popular now and went out and redo that entire album in concert,do his lil moonwalk and other tricks and made tons of cash but he fucked it all up.him and o.j. were both real popular guys in their professions who for some reason there in the mid 90's seem to throw their lives away and career too.

Me too. I was just uploading some Motown to my IPod a couple of weeks ago and I showed my daughter this video and was trying to explain to her how amazing this was and how everyone was in awe.

It really makes me sad to think how talented he is and what has happened to him since then.

Wow and Wow. Electric performance.

So sad how there are greedy plastic surgeons in this world that would feed into his sickness regarding his looks and keep operating on him. Now, his nose is practically falling off.

Why treat life as a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving in an attractive & well-preserved body? Get there by skidding in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand, chocolate in the other, body totally worn out, screaming WOOHOO! What a ride!

She's hilarious! My daughter said to me years ago that he was probably the only black man in the world to turn into a white teenage girl. That was when he still looked like a girl.

The reality of it is, Michaels skin went white because he would cover himself in baby powder when hopping on old culkin and other helpless boys to avoid sticking. His body eventually took in the white baby powder changing his color.
Those are the facts!

I remember when Thriller came out and it was really captivating for sure. The next two albums that followed were really good also. I did like a lot of the music Jackson was doing up until about 89' or so. What doomed my attraction to Jackson's music wasn't all the charges brought against him by parents, and it really wasn't all the plastic surgeries either, it was how he publically came out saying that he did the surgery only because the white record producers made him do it so the public would accept him. Apparently Jackson stated that he was told by record producers that in order to get a record deal, he had to make himself look white and not black, that the public would accept him and his music more if he wasn't black. But only a decade or less previously, Jackson had made it known that he was doing these operations cause he wanted to look like his life long idol Diana Ross.

So the claim Jackson made later on that white producers told him to do it was complete bullshit. The week he made that comment public, I tossed out all the albums I had of his in my possession. That was it for me. Before the operations he was a good looking black guy and personnally, I believe he was more accepted by the public before he had all this stuff done to his face then after.

One thing for damn sure, I wouldn't trade all the money in the world to look like Jackson now. Very poor planning on his part. Obviously he didn't take into consideration what natural aging will do to all that surgery over time. Two words sums it up....He's fucked.

michael jackson could've been as big as elvis was and neverland could've been like graceland had he just kept himself in good condition and not had any major fuckups.he could've released an album every eight years like the biggest stars do and been clean as a whistle but he couldn't do it.

No matter what people think of Michael Jackson now, "Thriller" is still a genius album and "Off the Wall" wasn't bad, either.

His personal demons  took him down. Instead of "saving" himself and being
true to his soul, he didn't make the appropriate changes and he lost himself in his own insanity.
