Worst for me was George Harrison and Ravi Shankar in either 74-75. At that point I was only 15-16, and was hoping for some beatles tunes, and it was really awful. I was so disappointed.

Hey Jana, was this during that whole "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy" thing?

Right. He sang some of those disco type songs too, yeah. Maybe that's another reason he was calling him gay besides the clothes.

Well, to be honest, I probably wouldn't have been there to begin with. He's a great songwriter, but he should leave the singing to someone who's got talent.

My first concert was Seals &Croft .....1977. At midnight I turned 18 and was finally able to go out with
some of my older friends for a drink. Was a fun night for sure!!!

I think I can top most of you. My first was The Jackson Five Victory Tour in 1983. I was 7 and my sister was a huge fan so my parents took us all. Needless to say, although it was a good concert, I didn't get hooked on the Jacksons!

My first Rock Concert was Rush ~ the "Signals" Tour - Winter, 1982. I was 14.

 Little did I know - but my Future Husband was sitting DIRECTLY ACROSS the Arena from me, at the New Haven Coliseum.

My parents dragged us kids to a Dickey Lee concert when I was 8, but I really don't count that. My first concert of free will was April 1986 The Hooters and Loverboy. Loverboy came to our Ribfest last summer and I had an interview with Mike Reno and I mentioned the above fact. He's like, "Hey, I remember that tour". Then I said, "You're not touring with the Hooters anymore are you?"

I did a facial on Getty Lee in 1981 before a video. One of the nicest, shyest men I ever met, and very down to earth.

I remember contemplating a trip to Sioux Falls for that last May but never made it. Do they usually bring in bands like Loverboy, etc.? If they're able to book a good band I might have to make a trip down for it this year.

You would have had quite the experience, it stormed like a BITCH and they shut it down only to open it up an hour or so later when they had the all clear. Loverboy didn't hit the stage until 10:30, but the show went on. The year before that, it was Kansas and before that Joan Jett, .38 Special etc, so yeah, they get some pretty good bands in there.

When I was in High School, I was a singer (and a terrible one at that) in a band that opened for the Hooters at Stanley's Bar in Wilmington, Delaware. About a year later The Hooters had their one and only hit, "All you zombies".

First concert was YES, from the Going for the One release. Back at the Spectrum in Philly. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8_inVKZcfw&feature=related

That was it for me... played that damn album every day at least 7 times. Then the house was filled with blasting music from everybody. Bowie. Kansas. Boston got cranked... a lot. Renaissance (see Nora's thread). Journey of course. But I was a YES fan from my first concert.

Arianddu wrote:June 6th, 1986, A-ha. Yeah, I know, sad that I still remember the date: the ticket stub is in a folder full of all the clippings I kept of that band. It was my 14th birthday present from my mother, and was the 6th row. Didn't get a t-shirt, but I do still have the programme.

Hey Ari, we're the same age. I've only been to two concerts and they were both Bryan Adams. The first one
was when he played an outdoor concert in my hometown for Music '91. I worked at the travel infocentre
on the highway and my shift didn't end until 8pm when the concert started. The manager wouldn't give me
permission to lock up an hour early, even though by that morning all I could tell people was that there
wasn't a room or campsite open between Calgary and Salmon Arm. So I posted that info in the door with
a map and directions to the concert and I was out of there when my brother came to pick me up!

I figured if the boss drove by and checked up on me, she could fire me, but there were only two weeks left until
I went back to college - no bloody way I was missing the biggest event to ever happen in this little town and I
had been a Bryan Adams fan for years! The concert was amazing - my boss never said anything and since she
didn't care about her own job I doubt she bothered to check, but it would have been worth getting fired over.

My first concert was http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQ8sTiku ... 1&index=14
(this is the actual show I was at).

I dug the opening band- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kmLmjz_cFs
They mostly got booed though by the other 11-16 year olds that were there.
I went with 2 of my friends that were brothers, (and their parents) since none of us were old enough to drive.

I can't believe it was almost 32 years ago!
