OT-Rush Retrospective III on the way!

Rush will release Retrospective III (1989 - 2008) on March 3rd, according to a press release. The third volume in the band's ongoing series of compilations will feature tracks from the band's two-decade stint with Atlantic Records, which encompassed albums such as 1989's Presto, 1991's Roll The Bones, 2002's Vapor Trails and the band's latest studio effort, 2007's Snakes & Arrows. The set will be available as both a single CD and a two-disc CD/DVD package.

Retrospective III also features a previously unreleased live version of "Ghost Of A Chance," recorded in Atlanta on the Snakes & Arrows tour, as well as remixes of "One Little Victory" and "Earthshine" by guitarist Alex Lifeson and remixer Richard Chycki.
The DVD portion of the set compiles all 10 music videos the band made during the Atlantic years, including "Roll The Bones," "Stick It Out," "Driven," and "Malignant Narcissism," which was nominated for a Grammy.
Also contained on the DVD are three live videos filmed in Frankfurt, Germany during the band's 30th anniversary tour in 2004, including a performance of the Who's "The Seeker." A televised performance of "Tom Sawyer" is also included, as well as interviews with all three band members.

A "Deluxe Rush Fan Pack" combining the CD/DVD set with a limited edition lithograph of all the albums represented in the collection is also available, with the first 100 orders receiving a signed lithograph.
Rush's "Hope (Live For The Art Of Peace)" is nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Rock Instrumental Performance. The song appeared on the Songs For Tibet: The Art of Peace collection.

hard to believe but i bought presto the day it was released back in 1989.doesn't seem like twenty years ago.wow.i was walking around with some spending money and went to a record store and bought that and i think around the same time period i bought dr. feelgood by the crue and aerosmith pump.also bought rush chronicles a while later which was another good hits thing they released twenty years ago or so also.

i miss it.used to be cool watching a world premiere video debut by a band you loved or waiting for that months new magazine interview.then waiting months for some of your favorite bands to play live and maybe buying a shirt or a tour program.it will never ever be that way again but kids these days will never know how fun it once was.

Funny that this came up: Was in a local mall Saturday morning and while there, thought I'd stop by FYE to pick up a Rush compilation to attach a money card to (for a 13 year old who loves classic rock). While going through the bins, I thought back to the old days of stopping by my local record store (Ocean County Music in NJ) every day on way home from school. I'd go through every album, admiring covers, reading back side, talking to the owner, and also to stare at a silver anniversary Fender Strat (silver) that I couldn't afford. Anyway, back to the present, as I was looking through the CDs, some very cool music started playing that I had never heard of. I found one of the salespersons and asked her the name of the band -- Cartel. She told me a bit about them, and when the second song came on, I loved it so much, I ended up purchasing it on the spot. Yes, we can listen to 30 second clips, listen to whole songs on YouTube and other sites, but there's nothing like being at an actual store.

My 18 year old nephew and I were in Best Buy a couple weeks ago spending Christmas money when I came around the corner to a whole row of ALBUMS! Queen, Pink Floyd, REM....I gasped and said, "OMG, I'm 13 again!" It was that same rush as the first time you went to the store with your mom to pick out a album or 45. I was GIDDY! I picked up The Police's Certifiable on album as well as CD/DVD. Like a kid in a candy store!

Vapor Trails sounded like a piece of shit. So painful to listen to. Sounded like someone jamming needles in my ears. From what I hear, the remixes sound way better and they are contemplating remixing the whole CD. Well.... about FUCKIN TIME. I really liked the music but it is just unlistenable in it's present form.
