Winter fun

Postby Blueskies » Wed Jan 28, 2009 10:48 am

The point of this thread is to say a few words on something that occurred then to leave it and move on to some fun.

First of all I have to address the complete bullshit threads started by one and participated on by some recently . For real..that was childish to the extreme and reminded me of common street gang, thugery behavior. Someone said I'm the one that can't take any criticism? Seems to me that whenever I criticise anyone on anything that they immediately get bent, get very defensive and start hurling insults....but hey, some must have something blinding them to that fact...I'd say bias...no one on this board likes it when someone disagrees with them and others have a bias in reading that favors their friends and things aren't viewed objectively..and some make comments about things when they don't have all the info..just heresay.. and jump to conclusions when they shouldn't.... but whatever... just one more thing we can agree to disagree on..not going to go any further with all that crap because the ones who participated in it made enough of an ass of themselves for all to see that there is no need for me to comment further on it. I just shook my head and considered the source. Sure I know how to play the social game and could have had everyone eating out of my hand if I wanted to on here but I hate fakery so I don't say things just to kiss ass, I say what I mean..like it or not thats how I am and if you don't like me for me then oh well..can't say I'll be losing any sleep about it..the insults are ridiculous and not true so why should I.
For my detractors who want to keep on hating I'll leave a message in my blue sky...

Image  j/k at least to all because I figure after some time to reflect on it some would have choosen not to participate in that kind of thing if they had it to do again.

and now with that said and out of the way I'll move on to the topic of my post for the rest of you...(and yes, there are quite a few posters here that I like.. fact is I don't hate anyone..just don't agree with some sometimes.)..anyway... to let those who have inquired know that yes I am fine...just been very busy and taking the time to have some fun when I can as well....and to show it here are some recent pics goofing off in the snow.

Making a snow bear...
Image

I put on several layers of clothes... STILL got soaked...ha!.. but it was fun...
Image
Image

Then had some hot chocolate and tried to thaw out in front of the fire...it was freezing outside! but warming up is part of the fun.
Image

I tried to get a pic of the snowbear the next morning ..I had added detail to it...but it blended into the background so I got behind it and held my coat open...but unfortunitely it still didn't show up well in the pic....and I unfortunitely didn't have makeup on and stuff....sure not glamor shots! haha! but hey..whatever..don't care about that I was having fun in the snow and with a friend.
Image

some more goofing off!
Image

After reading many complaints of the winter weather some have been having I thought I would show the other aspect of having some fun with it and getting enjoyment out of winter...I also went snowmobiling and did a little cross country sking but we didn't have a camera along for that. Anyone else have some pictures to share of some winter fun they've had? If not then contribute a story of something you've done to have fun...a ski trip, family snowball fight, etc., etc....or if you just hate winter and stay indoors as much as possible thats fine to say as well.  8)

aww..winter can be fun despite the cold...plus, as I said..the warming up after can be a lot of fun too. You might not mind it so much if after playing in the snow you could snuggle with the wife in front of a fire would you? :)

Peaked my curiousity, was this today? What did I miss, which thread are you talking about?

Phyl, it looks like the back of the snowbear's head, so it looks like your flashing him.

I love the snow! But this year has been just a big mess. We have had a few Chinooks roll in (which is nice to get the great weather in the middle of winter) but it melts a foot of snow then gets cold again then another chinook rolls in.....melt/freeze/melt/freeze. Some of the packed snow and ice ridges down the side streets are like trying to drive over tons of mini mountains.

I love snow & I miss it, but when it snowed in the mountains a few weeks ago, we went up to the in-laws home and played in the snow. It doesn't last really long, but there was still enough to throw lots of snowballs and make a tiny snowman. :D Today was a gorgeous day: clear, crisp, windy, sunny - which makes me happy...clean, fresh air & the rare BLUE SKY!

Have to say, I prefer the summer and enjoy the heat and all the outdoor activities of warmer weather...I really miss living in Florida where I could do the watersports I enjoy year round....but I grew up in the North and always enjoyed the snow and had missed doing some winter things as well. I've moved to Texas but haven't spent any time there yet to know what its like in the winter ..I've still been spending most of my time still at my home near the Ohio river...won't be going West fulltime for another month or so because I have projects here to complete but I try to enjoy the outdoors when I can in whatever climate I'm in. Yes, I agree with you, a clear bright winter day can be quite beautiful and is a great day for a hike...love to walk in the woods when the snow is sparkling in the light...when it's quite and the only sound you hear is the crunching sound as your steps break the surface of the snow.

I'm really just over it with this winter. I've had it. Usually I kind of like it. Not this year. After a full scale epic battle with 3 salt trucks (at the same time) this morning (when the roads were NOT in need of salting), I'm declaring ENOUGH of this. I plan to be a total curmudgeon until this shit goes away.

(Well, ok, more of a curmudgeon than usual)

I'm so over having to take 20 minutes to clean my car off in the mornings. Maybe if I wore gloves... but I hate gloves. I want summer.

Try a garage or an awning. No gloves necessary.

I had an auto-start installed in my truck. Just make sure to leave the heater/defrost set up when you exit the vehicle, and when you start the vehicle from the warmth of your own home, it'll clean itself off
